Vic passed away suddenly at home in Surrey B.C. on February 24, 2017.

He was born on May 1, 1941 in Victoria. He lived his whole life on Vancouver Island and referred to himself as a “Victoria boy”.

Vic was an all-around athlete throughout his life and was a long-time member of the Royal Colwood Golf Club.

Then 3 years ago, he had a sense of adventure and convinced his beloved wife Donna to move to Vancouver and start a new chapter in their lives. They then split their time between Vancouver and Mexico.

He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter Judy (her mom Jean); Donna’s children Rod (Anne), Jim, Lori (Jamie); grandchildren Joe, Emma, Jake and Bryan; two sisters, Diane and Sherry and cousin Gary and of course his four legged children, Lacey and Chiquita.

Vic was predeceased by his father Alf, and mother Mickey.

Vic worked his life as a Chartered Accountant until Donna convinced him to spend their winters in their much loved second home in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. They made amazing friends and memories south of the border and encouraged their entire family to come down to share their happiness.

“So long Pops, we love you!”

There will be a celebration of his life at his beloved Royal Colwood Golf Club, 629 Goldstream Avenue, on Saturday, March 11 at 2 pm.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Dianne and Sherri: So sorry to read about Vic’s passing. Although it is many years since last we spoke I remember fondly your presence at my mother’s memorial service some 20 years ago. Losing a family member not only reduces the number of those we hold close but reminds us of our own mortality. Your family were such good neighbours, kind and helpful. I recall your dad taking time to come over to share a drink and have a good laugh with Gran, so considerate.Good memories from the past. Love to you both, Norma

    I’m sorry for your loss and I know Vic will live on in your hearts. While you now feel sadness, in the future you will think of a memory of him and smile. I only got to play a couple of golf games with him but I enjoyed his easy style of encouraging and teaching others to improve their game. He will be missed.

    Gone from my Sight
    I am standing upon the seashore.
    A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
    and starts for the blue ocean.
    She is an object of beauty and strength
    and I stand and watch her until at length
    she hangs like a speck of white cloud
    just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
    Then, someone at my side says: “There, she’s gone!”
    Gone where? Gone from my sight – that is all.
    She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
    as she was when she left my side;
    and just as able to bear her load of living freight
    to the place of destination.
    Her diminished size is in me, not in her;
    and just at the moment when someone at my side says:
    “There, she’s gone!”, there are other eyes watching her coming
    and other voices ready to take up the glad shout –
    “Here she comes!”.
    And that is dying.
