It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend, taken from us too soon by failing health on the morning of August 20th at Royal Jubilee Hospital.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Nikola; their children Mira (Jim), Denis (Trish) and 5 grandchildren: Lisa, Kristen, Adam, Nicholas and Michael.

She touched many lives with her love of life, great sense of humour, generous spirit and love of community. She loved to sit, talk and laugh and tell a good joke. However, her greatest passion and joy were her grandchildren, she loved being a “Baba”. She will be so greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved her.

Prayer Services will be held on Thursday, August 25th at 7:00 pm at the Croatian Catholic Church, Saint Leopold Mandic Church, 4081 Gordon Head Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Croatian Catholic Church, Saint Leopold Mandic Church with entombment to follow at Royal Oak Mausoleum. A reception at Saint Leopold Mandic Church will follow the entombment.

In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, may be made to a charity of your choice.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear Myra and family, I am saddened to hear of your mothers passing. It has been many years since I last saw her (probably your wedding), but she still makes me laugh. When I was in high school your mother taught me to say a phrase in Serbo-Croatian. When someone asked me “Kako si” I was to reply “Dobro p……..” What she did not tell me was that my reply was that a certain part of my female anatomy was very happy. To her credit she did not know that my future brother in law was from Belgrade and his famous father (a colonel in Tito’s army) would come to visit. When the colonel asked me how I was I very proudly replied with the phrase that your mom had taught me. I still had no idea what it meant. He smiled, laughed, and shook hands with my husband for a job well done!! We still get laughs about that. I also remember your mother for her Torte, I hope she taught you the recipe. My thoughts are with you and your family. I live in Victoria and if you want to get together for tea sometime, just send me an email. moskyn@shaw.ca
