It is with great sadness that we are announcing the death of Cheryl after a short but courageous battle with cancer.  She leaves an immense void in the lives of her brother John, sister-in law Carol, her nephews Greg (Terri-Lyn), Grant (Meghan) and Garth (Deanna), her great-nieces Lauren, Grace and Claire and her grand nephew Graeme.  She has left us and a multitude of friends, colleagues and former students with abundant cherished memories.

After a 30 year career as an art and graphic art teacher in several Victoria high schools, she retired in 2003. This phase of her life was blessed with good health and she participated in many activities including bicycling, gardening, traveling, bridge and, of course, artwork. She especially enjoyed neighbourhood and family gatherings.

Cheryl had a good life!  We are all thankful that we had an opportunity to share some time with her. Now she has moved on to rejoin her parents, Bud and Mary and her cherished cat, Kizzy.

On behalf of Cheryl and the family, we would like to thank all of the friends, doctors and nurses who provided amazing love and support through these difficult times. We know how much this meant to her.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Saturday, March 10 at 2:00 pm.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Cheryl, known to us, her art students at Oak Bay Junior High, as “Miss Campbell” was a huge influence on us. For me personally she gave me the confidence to pursue my art in post secondary school. I missed out on reuniting with her recently and still miss her smiling face. Rest In Peace Cheryl and my condolences to her family and friends.

I was a student of Mrs Campbell way back in 1989 to 1991. She was an amazing teacher who was very dedicated to enriching the lives of her students who she greatly cared for. She would even step in as a parental figure when the need arose. She did everything she could to guide us on a path towards success in all our future endeavours. Mrs Campbell was a teacher who impacted many lives like my own in a way like none other. She helped shape me into who I am today and for that I will always be appreciative. She will be sadly missed. The touch of her heart in peoples lives has had a very far reach as we students have more bed all over the world.
My condolences go out to all her family, friends and past students.

My sincere condolences to family and friends. Ms Campbell was my Graphics teacher at Esquimalt Secondary and had shown me a lot of kindness at a very difficult time in my young life. I have always been grateful for her support. I tried to find her contact details a few months ago, to no avail – I live overseas now. Without her support I may not have been able to make the first of many overseas trips that have enriched my life. I had hoped to let her know how her support, over 20 years ago, was so greatly appreciated – then and now.

Cheryl was a good bike buddy who taught me I could ride forever, and have fun doing it. Many pedal pushers will miss her. My condolences to you.

John and the Family – Accept our sincerest condolences in the loss of your sister. We knew Cheryl as a great person and neighbor for 22 years, and are plainly devastated by her passing over.

John and family – cousin Linda advised of Cheryl’s illness and passing. So sorry to learn of this loss. It has been many, many years since I have seen any of my Canadian relatives but I know how much my parents appreciated staying in touch with all of you.
