Connie passed away peacefully at Selkirk Lodge, her home for the past two years.  Predeceased by her parents Frank and Maude Jones of Victoria and her husband Gerald in 1997.  Connie is survived by nieces Frances (Larry) Dugan, Campbell River, BC, Terri Cox, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, nephews Lloyd (Lucy) Gibson, Prince George, BC, Bruce (Cathy) Gibson, Duncan, BC. and their extended families.

Connie was a native Victorian, born on Menzies Street in Victoria and attended Cedar Hill, and Central Girls schools.   Upon graduation in 1939, Connie started work at Yarrows Shipyards in Esquimalt (later Versatile Pacific Shipyards) and after 49 years of steady employment at Yarrows, she retired as head secretary to the general manager.  It was at Yarrows where Connie met her future husband, Gerald and in 1949, they were married and moved to Esquimalt where they built their home in the Highrock area.   After retiring, Connie continued to take a keen interest in local maritime history and was a remarkable source for anything to do with ship construction and ship repairs undertaken by Yarrows Ltd.

She will always be remembered as an extremely kind and generous person taking great pleasure in helping her family and friends as well as donating generously to many, many charitable organizations over the years.

Many thanks to Fran Pallister and Anita Dennett for their many years of loyal friendship and assistance.

Cremation followed by interment in the family plot at Royal Oak Cemetery.

Such a nice lady. I worked with Connie in the 1980s and looked up to her as the matriarch of the Yarrows Shipyard family. She could type faster on one of those old clunker typewriters than most people can do on a computer. Sorry for your loss, rest in peace Connie.

I worked with Connie at Versatile in the mid 80’s and was so impressed with her knowledge and professionalism. She was very dedicated to her boss(es) and to the company and her knowledge of the company was amazing.
So sorry for your loss and know that she was well respected and admired.
