Dana’s life was tragically cut short on October 26, 2017 in Victoria, BC at the age of 23.  He was born in Edmonton, Alberta on December 22, 1993.  He is survived by his mother, Nicole Sellars; father, Ralph Newberry Jr; sisters, Jessica Newberry-Urbani, Adriana Sellars, and Kari Dubon-Hercules; brothers, Ralph Newberry III, Christopher Flowers-Newberry, and adopted brother Graham Warford.

Dana was always an athletic kid. He started getting into parkour which is an activity/sport of moving quickly through an urban environment, negotiating obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing… pretty much like Spider-Man.  Unfortunately, due to an injury in 2012, his parkour days were done.  He loved video games, no surprise there, that’s a family trait.  He also liked to write poetry which equated to as the kids call it, “writing rhymes.” Dana loved music and had a very eclectic taste from a wide spectrum.  He really loved rap music and writing rhymes.  He was creative in expressing his emotions, thoughts, and realities through his rhymes. Dana’s life was met with trials and tribulations which is a common theme for all of us.  We are very proud to have had such a tall, dark, and handsome member of the family.  We are very blessed and thankful for the time we had with Dana and for the memories that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.

We do not believe in saying goodbye to Dana, because according to the First Law of Thermodynamics, energy cannot be added to, nor destroyed, it can only be transformed.  We truly believe Dana’s energy has transformed into a spirit. When it is our time to die, we will also be transformed into a spirit and be reunited.  We love you Dana.

A Funeral Service and Reception were held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens.
