It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a very special man Daniel George Weston on January 13th, 2018.

Danny was born and raised in London, England and moved to Canada in 1967. He enjoyed teaching in the Sooke School District for many years, but his great love was The Bun Shop and Harbour Cones which he ran for 33 years.

Danny was a caring foster parent most recently to Kala. He was a passionate birdwatcher and stamp collector. He loved to travel the world and had visited every continent except Antarctica.

Danny was a true family man who will be remembered by his loving wife of 50 years Maureen; children Michelle (Cory), Patrick (Shelley), Lisa (Chris) and grandchildren Olivia, Maura, James, Emily, Mariah, Annika, Gabrielle, and Noah.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mustard Seed would be greatly appreciated.

We look forward to being together in Eternity.

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

    Dear Maureen,
We have never met but I remember Danny from the 780 European tour . He was a wonderful tour guide with so much knowledge imparted in an enthusiastic and often humorous way. I have often thought of him over the years and wish I had been able to accept his invitation in 1967 to come and meet you and recall that great 780 tour with him. I too have lost my husband of over 50 years so can identify with your sense of loss and pain.
When I finally looked up Danny’s name this morning I was shocked and saddened to hear he had passed away five years ago. I think you will have found as I have that having children and grandchildren helps a great deal.
Sending caring thoughts, Sandra(Sandy) Sadler nee Storie

Maureen and family, I was so saddened to learn of Danny’s death. He was a wonderful man. I remember him describing to me the beauty of Australia’s sky. I thought of that during my recent visits to my brother and family on the Gold Coast of Australia.

    Warm thoughts of you all,

    Marg Eastman

Barbara and I were business neighbours of Danny for many years, operating Sam’s Deli just down the street from The Bun Shop. We loved Danny’s cheerful realistic attitude, operating a successful business on Government Street in the tourist precinct. He was consistent. His buns were good, and his prices were fair. Often I would take a break from my own restaurant and walk up to have my favourite capicola sandwich. I can still taste it, and I can still see Danny’s lovely gap-toothed smile as he helped me unwind with some level-headed, upbeat conversation. We are visiting our family in Panama and are so sorry that we cannot be there on the 19th to help celebrate his life. Bruce and Barbara Housser
