The family is sad to announce the peaceful passing of Deanne on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Victoria Hospice at the age of 70. Born on June 16, 1946 to Wilma and Donald Vincent in Victoria BC, Deanne grew up on a variety of Air Force Bases, including Goose Bay, NL; Trenton, ON; Washington, D.C.; Cold Lake, AB and finally Montreal, QC. Following high school graduation, Deanne worked for 2 years in Montreal for Sun Life. Deanne’s love of travel and meeting people led her to join Air Canada as a Flight Attendant in 1967. This career fulfilled Deanne’s dreams until her retirement in 2004. In 1967, Deanne settled in Mississauga, Ontario where she started her family and lived until 2003. After meeting and marrying Barry in 1997, they chose to move to Victoria for their golden years. Over the years, Deanne was very active in her community. Deanne maintained her many Air Canada friendships through her ongoing association with the Canadian Maple Wings Association. In addition, Deanne volunteered at Mt. St. Mary Hospital in Victoria.

Deanne was predeceased by her parents Wilma and Donald Vincent. A devoted wife and loving mother, Deanne leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Barry and sons Shane and Ryan (Janice), her identical twin sister Denise (Bert), her sister Gayle (Bob) and brother Rick (Sandi) as well as her extended family Deborah (William), Rodney (Sandra), Dann (Amarilis), Graeme, Marina along with nieces and nephews Don (Shannon), Michelle, Rebecca; grandchildren Haili, Jenna, Brooklyn, Meagan (Stefan), Ashley (Joseph), Gregory, Brad, Courtney (Geoff) and Ingrith; great grandchildren Hunter and Cooper as well as grand nieces and nephews Brenda, Aidan and Grayson.

Deanne will always be remembered for her vibrant smile, bubbly personality, caring nature and interest in people; anyone willing to share a few moments with Deanne was quickly drawn in by her interest in them. In this way, Deanne cultivated many lasting friendships.

We would like to thank Victoria Hospice for their warm and caring support. Any donations to Victoria Hospice 1952 Bay Street Victoria BC V8R  1J8  in Deanne’s memory  would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens 4665 Falaise Drive Victoria BC. on Saturday April 15th at 2 pm.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Our first memory of Deanne was on the day we moved into our new house. In the midst of boxes and moving men, a tiny whirlwind blew in through the front door to introduce herself as our neighbour. And what a precious and delightful whirlwind she turned out to be, along with her wonderful husband, Barry. Over the short few years since that day, we were privileged to have our friendship grow. Deanne was a brilliant light, she glowed like a beacon. Deanne personified how to live life to the fullest and we feel so lucky to have had her come into our lives, albeit all too briefly. Thank you, Deanne, for making an indelible mark in our lives. For such a tiny lady, you left a truly giant footprint on so many hearts.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Barry, and to Deanne and Barry’s families for their loss.
    Love Sue and Tony

The tide recedes but leaves behind
    bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle
warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops, and yet it echoes
    on in sweet refrains…..
    For every joy that passes,
    something beautiful remains.
Deanne was a ray of sunshine. With thoughts of peace and courage for you,and your family.

Dear Denise and Gayle, I am so sad to see Deanne’s obituary in the Times Colonist and to read about her passing. I was lucky enough to meet Deanne, and you both, Denise and Gayle, at the Royal Oak Curves, years ago now. You were there on my first day, after transferring in from the Curves at the five corners, and all made me feel very welcome and at home. I really enjoyed the Saturday morning Curves crowd, which we all often attended – lots of interesting conversations and laughter. I have missed all of you since the R.O. Curves closed and hope the two of you are doing well. Deanne will live on in my memory as the special person that she was. My heart go out to you both, her family and friends at this sad time. My thoughts are with you, Patti

If there was a hole, Deanne would fill it.
If the day was dull, Deanne would brighten it.
I was Deanne’s first “Nanny” when Shane was a baby and Ryan was still to be born. What a time we had and so many laughs and to this day we still kept in touch. My last time with both Deanne and Barry was back in 2003! I visited the Island and we had so much fun. That’s what Deanne managed to do make everything fun. What a lovely person. Tears have been shed here in Yorkshire but also many smiles for all my memories.
    Thank you Deanne.
    Love to all.

  • Linda Spencer

Hello to all Deanne’s family. I worked as a Nanny to the boys back in 1980 and enjoyed the closeness of the family, the boys were a total delight and we had lots of fun and adventures. Things I will always remember about Deanne, well there was her generosity, her understanding,
support and yes, that wonderful smile. We kept in touch over the years and had arranged to meet up in Barbados in the December last year. Alas it was not meant to be and I will always regret that but who knew in November what was to come. Deanne led a fabulous life visiting places that most of us just dream of…..she had a wonderful family who loved her with a passion and who had friends all across the globe. Goodbye my dear friend it was an honour to be one of those friends…..rest well xxxx

  • Natalie Healey

Dear Barry, Denise, Gayle and Rick. With love, deep sadness and heartfelt sympathy, I share the loss of Deanne with her family and numerous friends. Memories have been flooding back beginning with the excitement of the day Deanne and Denise were born, a day I shared with my dear friend Vera who, decades later, was unexpectantly and most pleasantly reunited with Deanne on a memorable cruise. Together Vera and I have reflected on Deanne’s delightful personality and many admirable qualities. Rest in peace, dear Deanne, knowing that you were and remain a sparkling light in the lives of many who love you dearly. Dianne
