Nancy died in Royal Jubilee Hospital on September 22, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband, John (2013) and sister, Helen Bandy (2014). Nancy is survived by her sister, Sheila Whitehead in England and two daughters, Mary and Lorna (Cam) Rizzie and grandson, Peter.
She was born in Vancouver, BC on March 29, 1928 and attended school in Kent, England. Nancy and her family moved to Victoria in 1947. The summer of 1948, Nancy worked at Emerald Lake, BC, making sandwiches for resort guests going on day trips. She also worked for many years at the Bank of Montreal, Oak Bay Branch, as head accountant. She was a longtime resident of Oak Bay and many happy memories were created in East Sooke. She will be fondly remembered for her jams, pies and hosting tea and dinner parties. Her world was her family and close circle of friends. She was a confidante and mentor to many. She will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Reception will be held at McCall Gardens Sequoia Centre, 4665 Falaise Drive at 3 pm on Monday, October 3, 2016. No flowers by request of the family. Instead, two charities have been selected. Nancy had a deep love of cats and dogs. Donations can be sent to SPCA, 3150 Napier Lane, Victoria, BC V8T 4V5. Nancy was in support of Threshold Housing for Victoria’s Homeless Youth, with a house just opened up on Granite Street, 900 Vancouver Street, Victoria, BC, V8V 3V7.
