With great sadness, the family announces the passing of their dear son, brother and uncle Gerald Bryan Doney on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.  Gerry was born in Victoria on January 23, 1957 and grew up on the family farm in Saanichton.  He attended Saanichton Elementary, Mt. Newton Junior High and Claremont Senior High Schools. Gerry was a gifted athlete and enjoyed all sports, participating in rugby, soccer, baseball and fastball. A highlight was when he travelled to Wales with the Claremont Rugby Team.  Gerry also loved farming and animals and was a member of the Saanich Peninsula 4-H Beef Club. Gerry will be remembered for his big smile, hearty laugh, wonderful sense of humour and kind, generous heart.

The family would like to thank Sandra Miller for her professional care and support which enabled Gerry to live a happy, independent life for many years.

Gerry is survived by his mother Christine, siblings Robert, Diane (Colin), Douglas, Donna (Steven) and Barbara. Gerry was predeceased by brother Gordon in 1977 and father George in 2014.

A private family gathering will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to BC Schizophrenia Society, Victoria Branch, 941 Kings Road, Victoria, BC  V8T 1W7 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation,  1001 Cloverdale Avenue #106, Victoria, BC V8X 4C9.
