    Dear Hazel.
I was deeply saddened to learn of Gerry’s passing. I always enjoyed chatting with him for he was always willing to answer my many gardening questions, and always with his wonderful sense of humour.
I am living in Parksville right now so I never know when I’ll be in Victoria. However, wherever I am, I’ll be thinking of you and your family on the 19th.
    Warmest regards,
    Betty Wright

    Hazel, Caroline, and Stephen:
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. May the memories of your many happy family experiences sustain you in your grief.
One thing I will always remember regarding our time with Gerry in the Engineering Class of ’59: during one of our 4-hour final exams, the rest of the class knew that when Gerry handed in his paper, we still had 3 hours in which to finish ours! We also knew that when our papers were graded “on the curve”, Gerry’s mark was at the apex, and the rest of us would be strung out below.

  • Janice Drent

Dear Hazel: I would like to extend to you and your family my kind thoughts and my sympathy. Jan

  • Steve and Connie Allen

I first met Hazel and Gerry through the Friends of Government House Gardens Society. I was a raw recruit to Gerry’s gardening team. He was a kind, patient and effective teacher with a vast range of interests and was always a pleasure to talk with. He is missed.

  • Lynn Heenan

Hazel – Please accept my sympathy. Besides being such a responsible, organized person, I found his sense of humour matched mine perfectly. I am sad to see him go. Take care of yourself. Lynn Heenan

    Hazel:

My deepest sympathies on your loss. I met Gerry in 1970 when I joined United Aircraft of Canada in Marketing and he was one of the first engineers I had dealings with and was very impressed with his talent. I had some contact with him after you moved to Vancouver as he was still in aerospace and occasionally would run into him.

    Regards,
    John Wright
