It is with great sadness we announce Helen Macauley passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice with Marilyn, John and Jennifer by her side.  Helen was pre-deceased by her youngest son John (1976) and husband Ernie (1984) She leaves to mourn, son Ken, daughter Marilyn (John), grand-children Jennifer (Eric) Joshua (Denise) and the apple of her eye, her “little munchkaroonie” great-grandson Jayden.

Helen was born in Seech, MB to John and Tena Storozuk and was one of 11 children, the youngest daughter.  Helen lived in Victoria for over 65 years and was loved by all who knew her.  She was a proud member of St. George’s Ukrainian Church.  She loved to sing, play guitar, play scrabble, clothes and jewelry (her bling) and never went out without being dressed to the nines.  Even on her way to heaven, she waited until her eyebrows and lipstick were put on and hair fixed. We will miss her beauty, sense of humour, kindness and most of all her love.  Her passing has left a hole in our hearts and we must now learn to live without her presence and daily phone calls. Love you to the moon and back.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Victoria Hospice, her dear friends Val, Bob, Greta, Judy and neighbours Sharon and Claude for all their help.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 pm in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive in Victoria.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Victoria Hospice in her name.  Please wear your “bling” to the service

    Dear Family,
Gloria and I are truly saddened to read about the passing of a remarkable lady, who was such a huge part of our “church” life. So has left us with many fond and precious memories. She was a great and willing volunteer. What’s even more important is that she always brought joy to us with her wit, sense of humour and for telling it as it is! We know that she will be missed. May her memory be eternal! Вічная Пам’ять!

I’m so sorry to hear about Helen’s passing. You did a wonderful job of writing her obituary. it was definitely her. She was in touch with me not long ago and we were going to go for lunch but when I called to set it up, she said she would call me. She never did. We had so many wonderful years with your Mom and Dad and a lot of memories came back when I read the obit. I have been sick for the past three weeks and I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to the service for which I’m very sorry. I would have liked to have heard all the wonderful things people will say about Helen. Please write or phone me if you get a chance – 250-382-4076.

We are both in Edmonton , at this time and saddened to hear of the passing of our friend Helen.
The Helen I new was one of a kind She had a unique spark , always well dressed bling and all.
You could discuss anything with her and get a fair opinion, a”straight shooter”.She was a hard worker, positive thinker , taking enjoyment in promoting church activities. I will miss her at our perogy and Holubchi preparation sessions.
We both send our sincere heartfelt condolences to the family at this time of bereavement.

Helen will be missed in so many ways. She was one of the two or three original members of St. George’s Church and had so many memories and so much information to share and a willingness to continue volunteering for as long as she was able.
Myron and I admired her spirit and optimistic outlook on life, not to mention her pride in her appearance. She was much loved by so many.
