Lew passed away at home into the arms of our Lord surrounded by loved ones. Lew was born in Sackville, NB to Jim and Mary MacDonald. He is predeceased by his siblings Eliza, Ken, Alex and his wonderful Aunt Amy.

After service in the Air Force in Montreal, the proud Maritimer moved to Ladysmith and worked for Crown Zellerbach. Ladysmith is also where he met his beautiful wife, Alma Hunter. Lew and Alma moved to Victoria, BC and married on June 23, 1950 and moved to Stanley Avenue where lifelong friends were made and then onto Warren Gardens. Lew worked for Victoria Press, CP Rail, CP Air and Thrifty Car Rental.  After Alma’s passing in 1998, Lew met another beautiful woman in Ruth Poteet. They married on September 5th, 2000. Along with Ruth came her wonderful family of Dennis (Mary Joe), Yvonne (Michael) and Larry. Lew was a kind, generous and faithful man who loved life, sports, gardening, happy hour, Coco and most of all spending time with his family.

Lew leaves behind his four loving children Jim (Lorraine), John (Val), Anne (Jim Thomas) and Ken (Mieko). He also leaves behind his grandchildren Tara (Paul), Chris (Mona), Lindsay (John), Kelly (Abbi), Amy (Bryce), Connor, Sasha and seven great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Bruce and Shirley and Island Health’s wonderful nurse Andrea.

The Funeral Service will be held at noon Thursday July 20th, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Cathedral with a reception to follow at McCall Gardens 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC.

My Condolences to Ken and Meiko, brothers Jim and John and Sister Anne and Families. I was saddened to hear of Your Fathers Passing. It seemed that he was doing fine and even renewed his licence for his Mall trips in the day. He was very kind and welcoming to me in his home through the years. Please know I am, thinking of you all, and hope and wish you gods speed. I have no doubt there will be a few laughs thru the tears as you reminisce of his 96 years.I still have two original CP Air posters he gave me thru Ken from the Early sixties. That will be my reminder of his Generosity
