Jim passed away peacefully on the morning of January 19, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind to mourn, his wife of 58 years, Gail (Cronk); sons, Jay and Coyne; precious granddaughter, Lucia; sister, Catherine; nephews, Jamie Gibbon and Michael Millerchip and niece, Karen Gibbon. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Bridget McGhee and sister, Anne Gibbon.

Jim was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 31, 1935 and immigrated with his family to Victoria in 1947. He attended St. Louis College, where he was an avid basketball coach. He initially worked for the provincial government in the early days of computer technology and went on to own various small businesses throughout his career.

A Graveside Ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm at Royal Oak Burial Park on Thursday, January 26, 2017 with Fr. Ian Stuart officiating.
