After a long illness, Joan passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence in her 95th year. Predeceased by her loving husband, Jack in 1990, she is survived by sons, David and Robert (Jim); daughter, Janice (Scott) and grandchildren, Brad (Susie), Kim (Tim), Carley (William), Ryan (Jen), Matt (Angel), Michael and Jordan. Joan was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.

As a young girl growing up in England, Joan learned piano and excelled at dancing serving with E.N.S.A. during WW2. As a professional after the war, she performed pantomimes in several countries including South Africa and the U.S. Arriving in Canada in 1948, she met Jack. They married in 1950, settling in the Victoria area. Children soon followed. David was born in 1951, Janice in 1955, Robert in 1958. Joan’s life was full with family activities, camping and gardening. Devoted to her family and church, she also helped others less fortunate in life. Joan’s beautiful wide smile was uplifting to everyone. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Special thanks to Beacon Community Services and Victoria Hospice for the wonderful care they provided her.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Royal Oak Burial Park (Section R).   A celebration of her life and a reception will follow at 1:30 pm at Highway Christian Fellowship, 10364 McDonald Park Road in Sidney, BC.
