Joe passed away peacefully in his sleep and is resting in the arms of his Lord. Joe is predeceased by his loving wife, Irene in 2008 and his brothers, William and George.

He is survived by his children, Ron (Sheila) Lambert, Debbie (Dave) Kyte; grandchildren, Glenn Lambert, Dean (Trisha) Lambert, Stephen Kyte (Juhl Vautour), Jennifer (Jonathan) Cobham, Lisa (Andre) Brochu, Sharon Kyte (Robert Machial); great-grandchildren, Alanna, Cody, Joshua (Christel), KateLynn, Faith, Heather, Jason, Logan, Finlee, Jayla, Myla, Nathan, Kate and great-great grandchild, Avery.

Joe inspired those around him with his unwavering faith and devotion to God, morality and dedication to Biblical teachings. While serving in the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the HMCS Saguenay during World War II, his faith never faltered even when his ship was torpedoed, suffering heavy damage and casualties.

Joe met Irene during the war and they created a legacy of love and faith in Christ for 63 years. They raised a family and operated a service station business and later a car detailing shop. Joe was also very involved with Castlewood Sunday school in Colwood.

Though their peers remained content in retirement with a quiet home life, Joe and Irene, filled with a youthful love, travelled to three countries on their famous “Grandpa and Grandma Road Trips”.  Following the loss of Irene, Joe’s love for her and continued hope carried him forward. Despite the years that had passed, Joe recalled the story of their first date ice skating on Thetis Lake, his eyes gleaming with the same love and devotion they shared throughout their life together.

He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his family, friends and all those lives he blessed.

A special thanks to the Royal Jubilee Hospital staff for their care and support of Joe.

A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2121 Cedar Hill X Road., on Saturday, October 29th at 1:00p.m.

Tributes, if desired, may be made to the Royal Canadian Naval Benevolent Fund, 6 Beechwood Avenue, Suite 9,  Ottawa, Ontario, K1L 8B4; rcnbf@rcnbf.com.

    Well, Dear Ron, Deb and Family;

    Your Joe was such a big part of the formative years of my life also, and he will always be remembered as the kind-hearted father of my dearest,life-long friend from birth, Debbie. My heart goes out to you all in remembrance of his amazing life!

    I visited Joe fairly often and was always amazed at his wit and intellect. He was very proud of his university courses and the fact that he qualified for his driver’s permit for five more years at 97. I visited him on the day before he died and he was still alert and asking questions. I will miss him. He was a great testimony to many people of all ages.

    I would just like to extend my sympathy to all of your family at this time. Mr. Lambert made a huge impact on my life when I attended Castlewood Sunday School as a child. I always think of him as Mr. Lambert never thinking of him as having a first name…Joe. It is because Mr. Lambert shared the gospel and showed love to us that I am a Christian. I in turn have raised my three children to be Christians as well.

    Blessings and Peace
    Lynda DeGruchy
