Ken passed away suddenly on June 6, 2017. Born in Prince Rupert on October 1, 1922, Ken was the youngest of a family of 6 boys and 1 girl. In 1929, the family moved to Smithers where Ken received his schooling. He joined the RCAF in 1942 and served as an aero-engine mechanic. He married Gwen Ellis in 1944. Ken entered the Anglican Theological College of BC in October 1945. He was ordained deacon by the Bishop of Caledonia in 1948 and priested in 1949.

Ken served in the Vanderhoof Mission from 1948 until 1953 when he rejoined the RCAF and served as a Protestant Chaplain. In 1956, he accepted the parish of Strathmore, AB, in the Diocese of Calgary. He moved to Lacombe, AB in 1959 and to Dawson Creek, BC (Diocese of Caledonia) in 1965. In 1973, he moved to the Diocese of British Columbia, serving for 3 years at Ucluelet and Tofino. In 1977, he became rector of St. Martin-in-the-Fields on Obed Avenue, Victoria, BC where he served until retirement in 1987.

Ken was a life member of Pro Patria Branch 31 Royal Canadian Legion, serving many years as Padre and as Chaplain at the Remembrance Day services at the Legislature. He was a member of Haida Lodge 166, Past Master of Confederation Lodge 116 AF & AM BCR and past Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of BC.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Gwen in 2006, Ken is survived by daughters Elaine (John) Collison-Baker and Judy (Greg) Laloge; grandchildren David, Cathy, and Laura; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 1379 Esquimalt Road on Sunday, June 18 at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Parish of St. Peter and St. Paul.
