Kurt was born in Whitehorse, YT. He lived most of his life in Yukon, residing primarily in Watson Lake. A long time Yukon Government employee, he worked for both Highways and Airports. Recently, he resided in Lake Cowichan and Victoria and worked in Northern Alberta. He loved the outdoors and working with his hands. His proudest accomplishments were his cherished children.

He is predeceased by his parents, Hans and Louise and uncle, Wayne Brandt. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, son, Nickolas Brandt, daughters, Sian Regan and Georgia Everett, sister in heart, Annemarie, brothers Kevin (Trudy) and Karl (Sheila), nephews, Owen and Kael.

It is with sad hearts we announce his passing. Kurt would want us to build a campfire, grab a beer and toast him. Please do.

Rest easy, Mr. M

I really do miss my dad a lot and I’m sure everyone that used to know him do too. He was a great man and an even better dad.

  • Nickolas Maichen

We miss you so much, Dad.

I’m selfish that I wish you were still here so I could hold your hand and tell you how much I love you. But I’m also relieved that you are no longer in pain anymore. You were the strongest man I knew, and yet you wore your heart on your sleeve.

    Love you…

See you on the other side, where we can drink a beer and go fishing once more.

    – Nick

Dear Jenn and family: It is with heavy hearts we say good-bye to our dear nephew Kurt who passed far too young. He was greatly loved by his growing family and all who had the good fortune to know him. Jenn, you were an amazing care giver to Kurt and for that we will always be greatful. Sometimes life’s tragedies have a way of making one stronger and remember you will be forever loved by Kurt! You brought great happiness into his life and together created three beautiful souls which is life’s greatest accomplishment.

Kurt was a serious, hard working person with a great amount of integrity driven by loyalty. I remember at age 6 when he was ring bearer at our wedding with the unusual task of wearing a kilt. This request was from my husband Neil who has a great love for his Scottish heritage. This met with a great amount of teasing from family members but after seeing a picture of a man in a kilt Kurt went on to complete this task with unconditional commitment. We shall miss you always Kurt but rest well in God’s care! Much love Auntie Jeannette and Uncle Neil
