Our dear Beth slipped quietly away at Hart House, her home for the past year and a half. She will be sadly missed by her sister Lorna Andrews, nephew Rick Andrews, niece Susan Trice (Frank), and her cousins Marcia Williams (Tom), Dave Pollard (Lisa), and John Pollard (Eve).
Beth was born and grew up in New Westminster, enjoying many summer holidays at Boundary Bay and White Rock. She had a career of more than forty years as a library assistant, beginning in New West. A move to Victoria in the late 1950s, with her dear mother Eleanor, led her to the Victoria Public Library and then to UVic. “Aunt” Beth was a quiet soul who loved spending time with her family. She was also a loyal and loving friend to many and together they enjoyed the ballet, figure skating, Parksville holidays, and concerts (above all, of course, Johnny Cash).
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lisa Veres, whose compassionate care has been constant over many years; Dr. P. Pathak, her kind neurologist; the Beacon home caregivers, especially Eleanor; her two companions and friends Valerie and Wanda; and every member (including Pudge!) of the wonderful staff at Hart House.
There will be no service. Lorna will host a drop-in memorial tea at 3496 Henderson Road on Sunday, June 25 from 2-4 pm.
