Our sweet, kind, beloved Mother has gone home to plant flowers with the Lord.  Mum peacefully passed from this world on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Mount St. Mary Hospital.  Mumma Margie is survived by her loving husband, Hans; sons and daughter-in-laws, Peter and Michelle, Carl, David, Jennie, Heather and the jewels of Mum’s eye, grandkids, Jasmine, Jessie and Hank, as well as siblings, Barbara, Wendy, Cathy and Dan.

Born in Victoria to Bill and Etta Kreller, Margaret graduated high school in 1955 in Oliver.  Mum moved back to Victoria and graduated nursing at St. Joseph’s in 1960.  Moving to Terrace to be the Regional RN, she met our father at a dance.  The lovebirds were soon married and Peter, Carl and David started life in Terrace.  Our parents loved art and Hans built Mum a lovely art store on our property called the Blue Bottle.  After a decade in Terrace, we moved to a horse farm in Quesnel where Mum had a blast with her horses, geese, ducks and chickens.  There we shared many great adventures with friends and family.  Hans’s career in the logging industry led us to Victoria in the later ‘70’s.  We boys quickly made many friends and Mummy Margie was a positive influence in many of their lives.  Mum and Dad spent many a weekend hiking and camping the Island and occasionally shooting a nice buck.  Our Grandpa said, “Marg was one of the best shots in the Okanagan!”  Our Mum was awesome and we will dearly miss her.

The Magdanz’s thank the kind folks at Mt. St. Mary’s as well as Beacons, Dr. Humphries, Dr. Walton, Dr. Laing, Margaret Hawkins and Connie Murdoch.  Thank you to all the people who have cared for our Mum in the last several years.  We are forever in your debt.

The Celebration of Life for friends and family is March 18th at 1:00pm at the Victoria Alliance Church, 1792 Townley Street.

A woman of grace, virtue and deep faith.

Oh what memories you all must have to sustain you in warmth and make you smile. No matter what shenanigans you got up to your Mom showered you with her love and blessings as she did, with everyone who knew her.

She was an exceptional human being who accepted everyone’s humanity. How fortunate you are to be her sons.

    With our sincere sympathy,
    Ian and Catherine Chisholm

I am so sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing. Although I did not know her, I knew Hans who was a friend of my parents in Terrace – Hans and Trudy Turteltaub – and maybe they knew her. I have lived in Victoria since ’65 and ran into Hans at a cross-country race for one of the sons and never saw him again. It appears that you children lost a wonderful mother and Hans has lost a wonderful wife. I hope you all have fabulous memories that will stay alive forever.

    David, Carl and Peter,
I read the lovely article that you had submitted to the Times Colonist newspaper this morning and I appreciated the opportunity to reflect on my relationship with your mom. As you alluded to in the article, your mom did make a very special effort to have a close, authentic relationship with your friends. She really cared about our well being and genuinely wished well on all of us. I always felt well cared for when I was around Mama Margie. This was particularly evident when I introduced Sue to your mom and they immediately connected with a mutual interest in Sue’s nursing studies. Your mom was very supportive and inspired Sue to continue finishing her degree.
Unfortunately, Sue and the kids and I are gonna be out of town on the 18th but we will be thinking of you and your family with a heavy heart. From my personal experience, that day will give you an opportunity to further appreciate how much love people have for you and your family. Your immediate sadness will have likely passed and your mind will move towards the great moments that you had growing up with your mom.
David, I’m looking forward to spending some time with you during that first weekend in May to help celebrate Billy’s birthday. Hope to see all of you again sometime soon.
    Take care, Duncan and Sue
