It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Yiayia.

Born on the Greek island of Samos, Maria came to Canada in 1957 where she met and married Elias Ntzoutis, her loving husband of 54 years. The couple established a successful business, the Burnside Shoe Re-Nu, in Victoria where they raised two daughters and became dedicated and respected members of the Greek Community. Maria loved gardening, cooking, and dancing to Greek music. She had a playful spirit and a generous heart and would always welcome visitors with open arms. Her family was her greatest joy, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She reminded us that there is no obstacle in life that cannot be overcome with family by your side.

She is predeceased by her husband Elias Ntzoutis; survived by her daughters, Vicky (Peter) and Niki (Andrew); grandchildren Johnny (Kai), Elias (Adia), Maria and David and great-grandchildren, Aria, Avery and Atavio.

We will miss your smile, your sense of humour and, most of all, your love.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Luther Court for their loving care and kindness.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by Father George Tolias at the YPAPANTI GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF VICTORIA, 4648 Elk Lake Drive at 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 and will be followed by a reception in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ypapanti Greek Orthodox Church.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Vicky, Niki and Family

We are so sad to hear of your Mother’s and Yiayia’s passing. She and your Papou will be fondly remembered especially by Niko who enjoyed dropping by their home for a visit and a bucket of treasures of fruit and vegetables. Thea Maria had a wit and humour that I had the pleasure of experiencing on a few occasions while visiting with Nick. She was a delightful character and I’m sure she’s passed this on to all she loved. May you all find comfort in remembering the wonderful and strong woman she was.

    Fondly
Niko, Julie, Sotiri, Kosta and Eli
