Born in Toronto on August 7th, 1922, passed away peacefully at home on November 9th, 2017, daughter of Daniel Webster Lang and Edna Lorraine Aiken Lang.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Montague Lawrence Tyrwhitt-Drake and her brother, Daniel Aiken Lang.  She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Ladi) Holovsky; sons, Monty and Guy and her grandchildren, James and Thomas Tyrwhitt-Drake.

Nancy attended Bishop Strachan School and graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto, in 1943.  That summer she volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross and then served overseas as an ambulance driver.  While serving in Belgium in 1945, she met her future husband, Monty.  After their marriage in Toronto in 1946, they spent time in Vancouver and Toronto before settling in Victoria in 1952.

Nancy was active in many aspects of her community, among them the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, the Chancel Guild of Christ Church Cathedral, the Red Cross Overseas Club, where she kept in touch with dear friends over the years and with her husband, Monty, was among the founding members of the Jane Austen Society of North America.

Nancy will be remembered for her grace and warmth and her ability to make friends wherever she went.  Family and home were her great love and the beloved North Saanich house that she designed, and which she and Monty had built, was a focal point for many gatherings of friends and family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ewan Cadger and those who so greatly supported Nancy this past year, Mary Jo and caregivers Pam, Alisha, Carolyn, Vaclav, Ute, and Parris.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, North Saanich, on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
