With love … Pierre passed peacefully on Wednesday August 17, 2016, at 72 years of age.   Extraordinary husband to Karen. Cherished father to Romy, Philippe (Zoi) and Sasha.  Amazing Grandfather to Austin & Nina (Bukovec), Mitchell, Dante & Oliver (Hahn). A leader, teacher and mentor in his field of Hairstylists and business owners.  Pierre was well respected by all who knew him.  He touched so many lives with his big heart, great sense of humour and generous spirit.  He leaves us with a legacy of love and strength beyond measure.

Pierre and the family would like to give special thanks to the incredible staff on 8 South at Royal Jubilee Hospital.  Your tender care of Pierre will forever warm our hearts.

Friends can pay their respects at the McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, on Saturday, August 20 at 2pm for a small service honouring his memory with refreshments to follow.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I am saddened to hear of Pierre’s passing. I remember working with him as receptionist at the salon in the Glebe. He was a lovely person and always able to put a funny spin on situations. My condolences to his family, may he rest in peace.

Karen, I just learned of Pierre’s death when my daughter, Kirsten, who was here visiting from Australia, had an appointment at 3rd Ave Spa. My John died in Sept 2014 & I have moved to an apt from my home of 51 years, but still in Kanata. I’ve only been here since Aug/16. Pierre was my hair stylist & good friend for many years on Bank St & in the market.I dearly loved him, his good humour & caring nature. We had so many laughs. Please send me an address or email as I gather you are in Victoria,Karen. Would love to stay in touch.

  • J Delaunay-Belleville

Sincere condolences to the Hahn Family.
Pierre was my stylist in Ottawa for over 20 years and I always enquired about him at YSS after his move to Victoria.
We shared stories, laughter and friendship as I received the best hair cut in Ottawa.
    Rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Karen, and her family.
Even flowers fade, die and disappear, their lovely scent stays with us forever.
Just like with those beautiful flowers our loved ones never leave us; they stay with us for ever in our thoughts and in our hearts as our most precious souvenirs.
I have some lovely souvenirs myself.
    Thinking about all of you,

  • Brenda Reid

Dear Karen, Romy, Phillippe and Sasha, I was so sad to read in the Citizen about Pierre’s / your dad’s passing. He was so young. As you know, Pierre and I met when he, his mother and the kids moved in next door to me on St. Laurent Blvd. in the late 1970s. I cherished the fun family next door, led by a perpetually optimistic father. He was always good-natured and smiling. Unfortunately, we had lost touch, although I have thought about all of you a lot over the years. I gather that at least some of you have moved to Victoria. I wish we had known, since Peter and I were there last fall. I wish you all the best and want you to know that Pierre was well loved far beyond his usual circle of family and friends. Lots of love, Brenda Reid

There are few moments where I find myself lost for words. But in the heaviness of this moment, and the depths of this sadness, I find myself unable to translate the emotions in my heart into words on my tongue. I am at a loss, knowing that there is nothing to be said to ease the burden of your family’s pain. All I can do is reflect, and remember, and wallow in the beautiful memories that accompany you, Pierre.

In french we say “tu me manques” instead of “I miss you”, which translates directly into “you are missing from me”. You are a part of me; without you I am incomplete. Your being is essential to my being. You took a part of me with you when you passed, leaving this hole, this emptiness, that leaves me breathless and at a loss for words.

But despite my sadness, I have joy for the memories that fill this space. You have touched the strangest corners of my life in such a profound and noteworthy way; for every time I think of sushi, I will think of you and your endless love but sorrowful reproach for the food. And every time I think of the ocean, I will think of your love for the water, but your disdain for venturing into it. When I think of you, I will think of your zest for life but your wariness of danger. I will think of your love for new beginnings but sadness brought on by endings. I will think of all the beautiful contradictions that made you so beautifully you, and that have made me, so wholly and completely me.

Your memory has become a part of every life you touched, and you will live on forever through the your youthful spirit, your full-bodied laugh and your mischievous smile. You have touched every corner of my heart, and I will cherish you fondly for the rest of my days. May we meet again, my beloved Pierre.

  • Vivi Leduc

I was 5 years old when Pierre married my late sister Denise. I loved to spend time with him, bombing around in his ’65 white Barracuda or hanging around “the shoppe”. It took a lot of courage to leave Paris at 19 to set up in a small town in Northern Ontario: that courage served him well over the many years he fought his cancer. To Karen, Romy, Phillipe(and Zoe) and Sasha, I share your sadness, as do all who knew him.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Pierre. It was always a pleasure when I had the opportunity to spend time with him. My thoughts are with you and Sasha and the rest of your family at such a trying time.

  • Pierre Leduc

I met Pierre when I was a teenager and he was dating my late sister Denise. It was like we had adopted him as he was always there at meal time. He loved to eat and if he was not at our house my sister was cooking these incredible meals for him and I at his small apartment on Martin St. in Sturgeon Falls. He was an incredible foil to my father and it was fun to watch the discussions that took place over dinner. He was kind and generous and when I crashed his beloved car he refused payment and laughed it off. Pierre has left us now but he lives on in his beautiful children Romy, Phil, Sasha and their children, Pierre Leduc

  • Janice Boivin
