It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mom. Ruthie was born and raised in Victoria, BC.  She was a graduate of Vic High School. She worked for the Provincial Government BC Forest Service where she met Bob. Ruth and Bob were married on October 18, 1952. Ruth stayed home to raise her family but returned to work in 1980 to the Federal Government.

Bob predeceased Ruth in 1989 after 37 years of marriage. Ruth is survived by her family Robin and Cheryl (children: Nicole, Danielle, Sabrina, Andrea), Paul and Jennifer (child: Andrea), Elisabeth and Tim (children: Graham, Patrick, Katherine), her sister Judy and husband Ted, niece Lynde and 6 great-grandchildren.

Ruth’s friendships throughout her life brought her great joy and maintaining these relationships were important to her. Scrabble and breakfast club were outings that Ruth enjoyed. She volunteered for many years for the Canadian Mental Health. Being social for Mom was very important.  She was always trying to swangle a dinner out or lunch with her kids.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Leny, Jill, and Phy who made it possible for mom to live out her life as she wished and enabled her, with great care and companionship, to live at home. Thank you to Dr. Morgan and the PRT team for the care and compassion given to mom.

Friends and family, please join us at 1 pm on October 1 7th, 2017 for a Celebration of Ruth’s Life at the Saanich Peninsula Presbyterian Church at 9296 East Saanich Road, North Saanich.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Ruth’s memory.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Ruth’s sweet and gentle spirit was one in a million. Always a kind and generous word to everyone she met. Her genuine steadfast trust in the Lord is something I will always remember, as well as her faithful and heartfelt prayers for her friends and family.

To the Children and Family of Ruth Jones,

As you ponder your memories of your mom and think of her with fondness, may you also be encouraged to know that the possibility of seeing your mom young, vibrant and healthy is a real possibility in the near future.

The bible indicates that the time is close for the ransom sacrifice of Jesus to be applied to humans. The bible says; “God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.”

“Everlasting life” in a peaceful world is what God has promised. The bible is clear that God’s time take away suffering and death is very near. (2 Timothy 3:1-5; Zephaniah 2:3; Psalms 37:9-11; Isaiah 33:24; Isaiah 25:8)

May your efforts to talk and encourage each other benefit you as well as the hope God offers for the future.

    Sincerely,

    Kaylin

I was a very close friend to Judy when we were in our teens and Ruth and Bob always provided a very warm, welcoming space for us to go to. Judy brought Ruth to afternoon tea with me about four years ago and it was so nice to see she was the same lovely person I remembered from all those years ago. My condolences to the family and especially to my friend Judy. I know she was very close to her sister Ruthie.
