It is with great sadness that we share the news of Tamara Stewart’s sudden passing on May 24, 2017. Tamara grew up on a farm in Fillmore, Saskatchewan where she fostered a deep love of animals, nature and learning. Tamara excelled at anything she put her mind to and after graduating high school, she went to the University of Lethbridge for three years studying sciences. She then transferred to the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver and became a licensed Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Tamara worked with many different modalities including acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, biofeedback and energy healing. Tamara showed compassion to everyone she met and was gifted at recognizing when someone needed help. Tamara loved being outdoors especially around the forest and ocean and was able to combine her love for healing and nature by attending naturopathic conferences in California and Hawaii. She loved hiking and accomplished a life dream when she climbed Machu Picchu and participated in a mountaintop shamanic ceremony in Peru. Tamara was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and her smile will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Tamara is survived by her parents, Harvey and Tanya Stewart; Siblings, Derek Stewart (Sarah Cunningham), Krystal Vollbrecht (Matt), and Sheena Gordon (Nevin); Nephews, Parker and Jaxen Vollbrecht; Niece, Adele Cunningham Stewart; Grandma, Vernita Potrebka and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

After great consideration, we have decided to do a private ceremony for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers or a service, those who wish may donate to the BridgePoint Centre for Eating Disorders in memory of Tamara. Tamara was supported at this Centre in a time of need and we acknowledge the support our family received and would like to bring awareness to disordered eating and help others. http://www.bridgepointcenter.ca or to directly donate https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/27894.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Tamara from Boucher, she was a couple of classes ahead of me. I didn’t know her well but could always count on her for a friendly smile and an easy presence. She was always calm, which was a really nice thing to have at a chaotic school. The world has lost a gentle soul; I hope she is at peace and that you are able to find some along this sad journey.
