It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom and Nana, Terri Fox, on July 17, 2017 at age 85. Terri was born on February 26, 1932 in Big Valley, AB. She grew up in Edmonton where she met John Edward (Bud) Fox. In 1952, they married and moved to Rossland, BC where three of their four children were born. In 1959, they moved back to Edmonton where their fourth child was born. In 1963, they settled in Victoria, BC where they made their home. Terri was a long-time business owner. She co-founded Gala-Van Catering Ltd. in 1974 which later became Gala-Van Party Rentals Ltd. (Gala-Van Party Shop) in 1981, where she worked until her retirement in 2001. For over 25 years, Terri was a member of Beta Sigma Phi (Chi Master). She was also a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Parish. Terri loved to cook and will be fondly remembered for her special family Christmas Eves. She was always doing something creative, from ceramics and painting (acrylics, water and oil), to gardening, reading and card making. Terri’s truest passion was her family!

She was predeceased by her husband Bud; parents Gerald and Beatrice Galavan; brother Ernie Galavan; and sister Marg McTaggart. She is survived by her four children Linda (Ray) Poilievre, Rick (Belinda Yorke), Mike (Kathy), and Diane Fox; eight grandchildren Jason (Tara) and David (Tricia) Poilievre; Chrissy (Dustin Player) and Dustin Fox; Bud, Katie and Amanda Fox; Jamie (Julia) Fox; and 12 great-grandchildren (by age) Logan, Jesse, Micayla, Daniel, Samantha, Bailey, Paityn, Genessa, Luke, Ryland, Andrew and Deklyn. She is also survived by sisters Gerry Kilgannon, Marie (Ivan) Dare, Kay Saunders and brother Larry Galavan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Terri’s family. She and Uncle Bud were so kind and generous to Brian and me when we first came to the Island. We were happy to reconnect with her at mass where she would always come and give us a big hug. You know there was a big party when she arrived at the Pearly Gates.

Thinking of you at this difficult time. A good and generous woman, and many memories of lots of laughter, when we first met at Garth Homer Center in the 1970’s, and each time I visited the shop since those days. May you be comforted by memories, and confident of the peace that Terri now enjoys.
