The good Lord has called Mom home.  Born in Frankfurt Germany, Mom grew up working in the family business, growing vegetables and flowers in their greenhouses.  As a young teen, she met our father Frank Wille, who she married at the end of WW2.  With 2 young children in tow, they immigrated to Canada in 1953 and went on to have 7 more children.  Mom seemed to have endless energy tending to her growing brood and supporting our Father as he grew his business and real-estate portfolio. She stood fast as the matriarch of our family, always fair but firm.

Mom touched many lives and enjoyed fitness classes and working out at the YMCA with her large circle of friends. At the age of 50, she ran her first full marathon and was hooked.  Sundays were reserved for family time and you could always find her hiking up the trails of Mt. Finlayson or Gowland trails with her dog and various children and grandchildren.

She remained active until 2 years ago when she suffered a devastating stroke which robbed her of both her mobility and her coveted independence. Fortunately, we were able to keep her in her home with the help of an amazing team of Care Angels who tended to Mom’s needs with love and tenderness. We are forever grateful to them for being by Mom’s side during her final journey.

Mom lost her husband 13 years ago but managed to keep moving forward living life to the end with dignity and grace.  She is survived by her 9 children, Berni, Gudrun, Peter, Frank, Maria, Chris, Monica, Michael, Roland, their spouses, 23 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.

Mothers hold their children’s hand for a short while, but their hearts forever.

Funeral Service to be held at Sacred Heart Church, 4040 Nelthorpe Street, Victoria, BC on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.

Flowers gratefully accepted.  Donations in Vera’s memory may be made to the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island’s Strong Kids Campaign Online at:  https://vancouverislandy.com/donate/support-a-campaign/strong-kids-campaign/ or in person at any of the three Y branches: Downtown / Westhills / Eagle Creek.
