I just saw these messages and wanted to thank everyone who wrote! They were very touching and comforting words. Dad is missed but it helps to know he had a good life with a loving family and many great friends.

    Dear Lindy and family,
I was sorry to read in the Times Colonist, and then in the Record that Bill had passed. He will be missed.
Our Embroidery Guild has folded, but I recall our executive meetings at your Puntledge home. Do you still stitch? I see where Dorita Grant passed before Christmas. She offered me lots of support.
I passed news of Bill’s passing on to Ray Griffith, who played in a band with Bill locally.

    Dear Lindy and family,
My condolences to you all on Bill’s passing.
I will treasure Bill’s memory. His quiet humour and infectious laughter.
I will remember the years we taught at G P Vanier and the quiet, pensive lunchtime walks on the school grounds.
I will remember the arduous hike to Mount Albert Edward and our foray to Cathedral Provincial Park, Keremeos.
And of course there was the skiing.
    God bless you Bill.

Dear Ken and Maureen & family,
Our favourite memory of your Dad is the many years he played in a band at the Great Canadian Beerfest. In their vests and bow ties and hats, he and the band were easily the best dressed guys there. And the lively tunes they played were the perfect background for drinking beer in the sunshine. Thanks for the great memories, Bill, you will be missed!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Bill. We played together in the Sidney Concert Band and the Bayside Big Band.

He was a great Trombone player who really enjoyed music. Usually when the Bayside Band played a gig we would ride together and on the way

home we talk about the pieces we played and the parts we really enjoyed. Bill was a great guy with a big heart and a wonderful soul.

    May he rest in peace.

    Dear Lindy and Family,
Please accept my condolences for the loss of Bill. I have fond memories of our times together in our reading club, including Courtenay, Hornby Island, hikes into Paradise Meadows and Marble Meadows, and summer meetings on Tree Island. Bill also taught my wife, Mary, librarianship, which enabled her to work as a librarian assistant at The Comox Library, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. I also have a pleasant memory of dinner with you, Lindy, and Bill when you introduced Mary and me to the joys of Elder group travels and adventures.
    Sincerely,
    Ron Black

Dear Ken, Maureen, Beth and Bob,

I’m so sorry to hear that your dad passed away. Please give Lindy a hug from me. I have great memories of family visits around the Farris and Newman kitchen tables. Your dad always seemed to have a twinkle in his eyes and he had a great laugh. He will be greatly missed.
