Yolande passed away peacefully in Victoria at the Jubilee Hospital, fortified by the Sacrament of the Sick and by the prayers of her loving family who surrounded her.

Yolande was born in Ottawa to Romeo and Maria Quesnel and was the fifth of seven children. Yolande’s family tree in Canada extends to 1647.

She is survived by her loving husband Vincent and by her children Paul (Paula), Joanne (Kevin Jones), and Thomas Jerome (Marnie). Yolande was predeceased by her eldest daughter Lynne-Marie (Ken Dorby) on July 29, 2016. Also left to miss their grandmother are her 13 grandchildren.

Yolande is also survived by her kin-folk in the East – by her brother Msgr. Roger Quesnel, her sister Pierette (Charles de Jocas) and by her brother Robert (Cecile). Yolande was predeceased by her brother Paul (Jacquie) and by her sisters Therese and Denyse.

Yolande is also survived by her sisters-in-law Pat (Gerry), Denise (Bernie) and Gloria (Cussy) and by her many nephews and nieces who will dearly miss her.

Having lived in many areas of the country, Yolande had friends in virtually every province.

Yolande and her family are grateful for the kind care and assistance that were provided to her by the staff of the Jubilee Hospital, the Berwick House Care Unit, Luxcare, her family doctor, Dr. L. Woodburn, and the Medicine Shoppe.

Much could be written about her life with the emphasis on her kindness, her love of her family, her friends, her faith and her country, but perhaps a poem by Emily Mathews best portrays Yolande – the love of our lives…

You’re a miracle to us…
a special gift from God above
Whose life is a reflection
of the beauty of God’s love.

You’re a blessing in our world –
a gentle soul, unique and rare,
who always lifts our spirits
with your tender loving care.

You’re everything we’d hoped
the one we love would ever be,
and that’s why you will always be
a Miracle to us.

A Funeral Mass for Yolande will take place at St. Patrick’s Church, 2060 Haultain Street, Victoria, B.C. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Martin Cain officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
