Died peacefully, age 62, with his family by his side at Victoria General Hospital, Victoria, BC. Beloved son of Mario (deceased) and Josephine Iarocci, much loved brother of Louisa, Bernice, and Angela, brother-in-law to Brian, Andy, Ted and cherished uncle of Gina and Lucia.

Tony was a graduate of the University of Toronto and worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company in Edmonton, Rogers TV in Vancouver, and Shaw TV in Victoria, BC. He had a special gift in connecting with people and touched many through his work.

Tony was an honest, kind and exceedingly generous son, brother, uncle, and friend. His deep intelligence and sense of humour will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Thank you so much to Dr. Mathes and to the doctors and nurses at the Victoria General Hospital for all the care and support received during a difficult time.

A private service will be arranged at a later time.

To honour Tony’s giving nature, in lieu of flowers donations in his name can be made to a charity of your choice.

My deepest condolences to Tony’s family for your loss. I was unaware until very recently of his passing.

Tony and I worked together many years ago for the HBC in Edmonton and we reconnected a few years ago. He was a great guy with a tremendous and unusual sense of humour, we had a lot of fun together.

    He will be missed.

I was saddened to read about your family’s loss, Angela. It has been many years since I briefly met Tony while he was producing a show, and although I did not know him well it sounds like he was a kind and generous man, and highly regarded in his field. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Dear Josephine and family – I was very saddened to see the notice of Tony’s death in today’s paper. I worked with Tony at Shaw TV in Victoria, and I think I spoke with you, Josephine, via long distance telephone some years ago, when Tony wanted us to get acquainted. Tony was a wonderful host when I travelled to Toronto once on holiday, and he was full of excitement about showing me the ethnic diversity and shopping districts! We had great fun for a very full day touring around. Tony was extremely creative with a never ending thirst for knowledge-we enjoyed a lot of deep conversations about politics, life’s struggles and the pursuit of happiness. He has very talented and I loved his sense of humour. He once arranged all the camera and production gear so I could conduct an interview in Vancouver (even though stationed in Victoria), and I will always remember his attention to detail and devotion to the best product possible. He was very generous. He always spoke with great pride about his family..he was extremely devoted to all of you. May Tony rest in peace. With sincere condolences, I hope you remember nothing but the happiest of times with dear Tony!
    Sincerely, Daphne Goode

Our sincerest condolences to the Iarocci family. My husband Shawn & I first met Tony about five years ago and the friendship was instant. I recall with fondness Tony’s shock when I hugged him the first time we met, and how he eventually warmed to my hugs. Tony was a captivating conversationalist with a strong interest and knowledge of many topics, some of which we debated more than once over dinner. Shawn and Tony spent a consderable amount of time together and on important holidays Shawn would take a plate of home-made dinner and dessert to Tony, who was always so appreciative of the gesture and, in return, would occassionally sent Shawn home with authentic Italian ingredients for us to try. We had talked about baking home-made bread together but sadly that never happened. Tony was generous to a fault, but his heart was always in the right place. The world is a less richer place without him. Thank you Tony for the cherished memories of great conversations, food, laughter and most of all, your freindship.

    With love,
Derece (Dee) Powell & Shawn Hanrahan

To the Iarocci Family from the Heppler Family, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. It is hard to believe that this happened so quickly and our thoughts are with all of you. The obituary captured what I understand to be a huge characteristic of Tony and that was his personality and kindness towards others. This is never forgotten and indeed is such a gift to have as a human being.
Take care and please let us know if there is anything we can assist with.
We are saying a prayer for all of you.
    Be strong.
    Kim, Lynn and Terry Heppler
