Mr. Brian Sheldon Lesiuk passed away peacefully in Victoria, B.C. on April 14, 2023.

Brian began life on May 26, 1940 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. After completing school, he trained as a mechanical engineer at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He supported his Engineering degree through military service that brought him to British Columbia after graduation. It was in Vancouver, BC, that Brian met Gloria Blubla, a nurse at St. Paul’s Hospital. Brian and Gloria were married on August 6, 1966, and soon blessed with three sons before settling in Victoria.

Brian was predeceased by his mother, Laura; father, John and sister, Elaine. Brian was loved in life and will be lovingly remembered by his son’s Chris (Shannon), Timothy (Brenda) and Bryan ; sister Evelyn; niece Krysta; nephews Tyler, Marc and Stephane; and granddaughters Emma and Helen

Brian loved life and his family and enjoyed the time he had as a grandparent. He loved making wine, growing roses and flowers, herbs and vegetables and enjoyed working in the garden year-round. Brian spent some time as a Scout leader and was an expert camper and backwoods bar-b-q’er. He enjoyed canoeing on rivers and lakes across the province, including many fishing trips to locations far off the beaten path (or where there was no path). He passed on to his children and grandchildren his love of nature and the outdoors, his fascination with science and the unknown, and they will remember him always. There will be no service by request.

I am looking at a photo of Brian and his fellow RCE engineer officer cadets in his 3rd phase training in Chilliwack. We were all excited when he arrived in his brand new Oldsmobile. One of Brian’s most useful tools was his old treadle sewing machine and we fellow officer cadets always were pleased when he was able to sew something or other on our uniforms for a minimal amount. I remember Brian with fondness and thought he was a really neat guy. Please accept my sincere condolences. Mervyn Lougher -Goodey Colonel retd late RCE. If a family member wishes to have a copy of the photo of Brian and his fellow mates (6 people feature) just email me. (email sent to family privately)

I, too, have fond memories of my cousin Brian and I will definitely miss my conversations with him. When Brian was stationed in the Vancouver area our family reconnected with him much to my delight. I loved to talk with Brian about many topics including my fascination with the universe. I remember Brian’s smile, his twinkling eyes, his infectious laugh, and his good nature. He was always very good to me and I appreciate that about him. I was thrilled for him when he met and married Gloria and that they had three boys. He was so proud of his family. In the past couple of years I would phone him around Christmas time and we would chat and although he had some problems he was still always positive. I will miss him.

Condolences to Chris, Tim, Bryan, and extended family for the loss of Brian. A special man indeed.

    Brenda Palmer-Stone.

I have fond memories of Mr. Lesiuk growing up, from his involvement in our Scout troop and attendance at many of our soccer practices and games. I also had the privilege of receiving my Iron Ring from Brian at my Engineering graduation ceremony! My condolences Tim, Bryan, and Chris on the loss of your dad.
