Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2022. Predeceased by his wife Alice, parents and siblings. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Sharyle, granddaughter Willow (Steffen), great grandchildren Jack and Lucy, many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Do not go gentle into that good night,

                                                 Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Bruce led a very adventurous life and loved to get to know people of all ages in all walks of life. He continued to entertain us with his stories until the end.

Thank you to home nursing care Alesha, Dr Jennifer Thomas, PRT Annie and friend Mary Sapong for her care and support.

After a family graveside service, we may host a backyard barbecue in his honour at some future date.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Bruce was a delightful neighbour and always had a kind word for our kids. He will be missed. Our condolences to Bruce’s family.

    Dear Sharyle and family.
The last time I spoke with your Dad was just after my Mom, Edie Fearon, had died. That was 9 years ago this month. How time flies. I was just thinking of him recently and wondering how he was doing. However, I knew that he would be well taken care of by his family, wherever life had taken him.
He and your Mom were such good friends of our parents, and I have many good memories of when we visited with your family as we were growing up. He was always such a positive, cheerful man. A life well lived, for sure. He will be missed, but left all of you with great memories!

Bruce, you will be incredibly missed. Thank you for being a great teacher to my brother and myself. A great friend to our family, a wonderful neighbour, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

My deepest condolences to Sherry, Willow and the rest of the Jewett family.

I said goodbye on the day that you died
I stood by your bed and silently cried
Your body was there but it wasn’t the same
If this was a picture, all that was left is a frame
Your life force was gone to who knows where
And when it arrived it would find friends there
I drank some of your rum and reminised
With Sharyle and friends of how you will be missed
My condolences to all of your family and friends
For this is the way that everything ends

Wow. Very sad to hear of Bruce’s passing. He always took the time to help me out and also taught me how to fix my car. He was always a kind and generous man and an all around nice and energetic guy. Will miss him. So sorry to hear about this Sherry and Willow.

Bruce was a wonderful person, and good friend. He was very much like a grandfather to my 2 sons over the years. I will miss dropping over for rum and coffee and chew the fat. Found myself often of late saying I really should drop in and visit, but never seemed to have enough time. Feel terrible now that I couldn’t make the time. As I say, he will be missed dearly. Sincerest condolences
Sherry and Willow I’ll be thinking of him often as well.

  • Bud Latta
