With profound sadness I announce the passing of my loving mother and best friend, “Momma Doll”, known to her friends as “Cathie”.

Born in Winnipeg, Cathie passed away in her 76th year on Saturday, Sept.5th, 2020 at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC.

Cathie was employed with the Greater Victoria School District 61 for over 30 years. She worked in the offices of many schools in the region and worked for many years in the Purchasing Dept at SD #61 Head Office.

She was a very creative lady. Over the years she engaged in many different crafts: Stained Glass, Porcelain Doll Making, Paper Quilling,

Paper Tole, Cake Decorating, Cross Stitch, Quilting and sewing.

Over the last decade her main focus was Paper crafting. She created Paper Albums, Scrapbook Pages, Cards and various other Paper Creations.

Everything she created resulted in absolute perfection.

Cathie is leaving behind so many friends in the Paper crafting Community. She loved to go to crops, take classes, and go on retreats.

Cathie was a hugger and many friends got greeted with a big hug and a smile every time they saw her.

She leaves behind daughter, Lorraine; 2 grandchildren, Ryan McLeod and Alanna McLeod and 1 great-grandson, Everett McLeod.

As well, she leaves behind her brother, Ted Bradshaw (Joanne) and 3 nieces.

Not to be forgotten, her furry, sweet and devilish grandbaby “Louie Louie”

Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

You are gone

But thank you

For all these funny, sweet, loving things

You have left behind

In my head, and in my heart

So sorry for your loss. I worked with your mom at the board office for many years. I was a single mom of 3, and for 5 years in a row your mom paid my car insurance in November and I would reimburse her when my income tax return arrived in March. She was always so loving that way…quite a lady! April Van Laar

    Dear Lorraine,
I was saddened when I saw your mom had passed. Though I had not seen her for decades it brought back memories of Lampson St. School. I remember Cathie as a caring mom to you. She was a friendly, vivacious and thoughtful lady.
I remember, too, at the end of your year in grade three she had a party for me at her home and invited all the little girls in the class. Sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss.

Dear Lorraine, I was so very sorry to hear of your Mum’s passing. As young people, her and I went through the teen years together and then as young marrieds and mothers. We always had such a good laugh together while you and my daughter, Audra, were drill team practicing. I spent many a happy hour with Cathie and your Nana at the house on Old Esquimalt. Every time we would run into one another I got the big hug and the big smile…..she is loved and will be missed….you and your family will be in my heart and prayers at this sad time.

Dear Lorraine, I was so sorry to hear about your Mom passing. We were never the Huggable types but we always had a great conversation, whenever we met. She was truly a very happy lady and she was always happy to let me know what you were doing. So many lovely memories. You will be interested to know that I have a son-in-law named Ryan McLeod.
Wishing you big hugs and wonderful memories of a loving mother who brought you so many terrific times. Sincerely, Barrie Foster

It is sad to lose such a kind friend. I will miss some of the talks we had. Her laugh was infectious and as you said we all knew her smile.

  • Joyce Burns

Cathie was one of the first people in the crafting community to bring me into her circle. She always made people laugh with her silly stories! Her creations were always perfection. I will miss her always.
Lorraine, Ryan & Alanna – know that Cathie will be missed and the papercrafting community will be here for you. Take care of each other.

  • LINDA Campbell

Lorraine, Alanna and Ryan. My heart is broken for your loss. It was such a shock and so unexpected for us all. She was my Best Friend and crafty companion for over 20 years. We met through crafting and shared that passion. We went through many highs and lows and supported each other along the way, even beating cancer. We all have wonderful memories to help us though these terrible days. Just know she was such a wonderful person and impacted so many of us. Oh how will miss that smiling face and her big bear hugs. The pain is gone CATHIE and for that I am thankful. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  • Susan Ryans

I am going to miss this lady. She was always so happy to see what was new in my life and share some of her stories too. There were many times we were in hysterics at the crops. I know Lorraine shared a special bond with her mom and will miss her dearly.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and big hugs for Lorraine.
    With fondest memories, Susan Ryans
