Charlotte Hynes died June 18, 2018 in Victoria, BC.

She is predeceased by her nephew, John Takacs, and her niece, Annette Beaubien.  She is survived by her sisters: Margaret Beaubien, Victoria, BC; Pat Hynes, Seattle, WA; and Nora Hynes, Victoria, BC.  She is lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Charlotte worked in the business world before returning to school where she obtained her Master’s Degree. Following this, she became an excellent instructor at Camosun College.  After leaving Camosun, she was employed by St. Andrew’s Cathedral for 10 years and St. Patrick’s Parish for 5 years in the financial/accounting department.

Her passions were her Catholic faith, family, friends and her great love of music, especially piano which she shared with many people.  Her other strong passion was baseball, a sport she knew like the back of her hand. She had a strong sense of integrity and was greatly loved by her family and friends from many areas of her life.

Your love of baseball will always live on with our boys Charlotte….you knew that already! I’m glad they all had the chance to spend time with you over the years. You were always so kind to them and to Laura and I. Taking me to my first ever MLB game continues to be a wonderful memory for me! I also remember you teaching me accounting at Camosun! Such a good teacher. I’ll miss you Charlotte and am glad that we were able to spend some time together in your last few weeks. Say hello to Nana & John for me!

  • Anna M Filippo

  • Jacquelyn Mulders

I well remember Charlotte from times spent with others, sharing music in her home. She was a lovely, gentle person and delighted in playing her Yamaha piano. She will be missed.

  • Hélène

To Charlotte’s family and many friends, I send my sincere condolences. We have been blessed to know her and to be infected by her love for life and people, her sense of humour and her passion for piano. Her Yahtzee scream will not be forgotten and brings, even now, a smile to our faces. She may be far from us now, but she is still present in our hearts and memories, a treasure we will cherish. We wish her to be surrounded by music and laughter, among the thoughts of her family and her friends. And we wish, to all who miss her in sorrow, the serenity to be found in remembering her kind, generous and joyful spirit.

My sincerest condolences on Charlotte’s passing. She lived with my family back in the 70’s in Norway and by chance she was my instructor at Camosun years later. It was great to reconnect with her and we enjoyed tea at her house on Cook St, using her special Norwegian china set, while we reminisced. We lost touch again after that, but I thought of her every time I was in the area and am glad to know she lived a full and rewarding life.

To Charlotte’s family and friends. Our prayers are with you at this time. Charlottes deep faith and reassuring smile has placed her front and centre in heaven. We have a vision of her sharing a amusing thought and chuckle in heaven with her long time friend Michael Andrews. The thought of their laughter warms our hearts. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

We are deeply honoured to have known and worked with Charlotte.

    God bless you
    Pat & Lorna O’Neill

Heartfelt wishes to Charlotte’s family and friends. We will all deeply miss her gentle spirit and quiet sense of humour. She was a wonderful example to us all on humility, kindness and all around innate goodness. If there are angels in Heaven, no doubt they will welcome dear Charlotte joyfully and be singing more sweetly with her musical talents to guide them.

  • Trish House

To Charlotte’s family, my prayers are with you at this time. Charlotte’s musical gatherings renewed my performing and deep love of sharing whatever we played in her lovely home.
I know she is missed here but has gone on to a better place where she no longer suffers. Her love of music will always be remembered.
    Trish
