Christine (nee Mangiarotty) died peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Christine was born in Trowbridge, England and immigrated to Montreal where she met her husband Joseph (Joćo)at the Montreal General Hospital. They married in 1967, and had their first born Andor (Andy) in 1970. They moved across the country to Victoria in 1972, setting up house on Redwood Avenue where they lived for 48 years. In 1974, Joanna was born and the family was complete. Christine spent her life volunteering with various organizations, most notably with the RBC Museum for over 20 years.
Christine was a prominent member of the Victoria Medical Wives during the 1980s and enjoyed many service activities with that organization. Christine was an elegant and classy person who lived life to the fullest and appreciated classical music, ballet, travel, cooking. She made the best crispy roast potatoes!) and being a grandmother. Christine is survived by her husband Joe, children Andy (Rachael) and Joanna (Scott); grandchildren, Oskar, Angus and Lola. She will be missed by all those who knew her.

It’s been a long time but I wanted to tell you about the times I interacted with your mom.
First, in those long-ago Glenlyon days, your mom was always an advocate on your behalf. You were a fine student so she didn’t have much to do but she always exuded a pride and determination when it came to anything related to you. She was a good mother.
Secondly, I volunteered at the museum some years ago (Titanic exhibit) and had several delightful conversations with your mom about life in general. I was impressed by her dedication to the museum and commitment to educating young people. She was a sincere community supporter.

Kathy Planiden I remember meeting Mrs. Kiss shortly after I began working in medical imaging (1974) as she proudly brought in her new baby to show the staff. I was so saddened to read about Christine’s demise.
Our friendship goes back many years when we were both very heavily invested in the Medical Wives Association. Christine would readily volunteer to do many things and never needed to be coaxed. She had a great sense of humour and a wonderful smile and laugh and was always ready to help.
We also had a meeting at the Castle one time and had a super time there.
She was a treasure.
