Cyril “Cy” Jones passed away peacefully with his wife and his daughters by his side. He was married for 70 years to the love of his life, Irene. He was the best Dad to Margaret Linda (John), Heather (Tony), Kelly (Carolyn) and Sandra (Ben). He was Gramps to 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, a dearly loved brother to Margaret Caslake, and a good friend to many.

Dad was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the oldest child in the family with 3 younger siblings: Margaret, Mabel and Mary. He was a natural storyteller and some of our most precious times with him were sitting around the kitchen table listening to his stories of growing up in Manitoba. In 1964, He and Mom moved their family to Victoria, where Dad built the family home. He found employment delivering milk for Palm Dairies. He enjoyed his work and represented his co-workers as the union’s shop steward. In 1970, Dad renovated an old house on Oak Bay Avenue, where he and Mom started a fabric store called the “Silver Thimble”.

Dad was always a sports fan, and when Kelly joined a local football team it wasn’t long before Dad became involved as a manager of the “Vampires”. He was good at fundraising and somehow involved most of the family in his volunteer endeavours. In later years he spent many happy hours in the stands cheering on his grandchildren as he watched them play hockey and lacrosse.

Dad and Mom shared many adventures in their travels, often neglecting to keep in touch with the family back home.

Dad was a jovial kind-hearted man who loved people and telling a good joke. He was always whistling while doing chores or tinkering with his RV. He made friends wherever he went. He lived every second of his 93 years to the fullest. Dad’s cheerful demeanour and witty sense of humour will be missed by all that knew him. Rest in peace Dad. We know you are reunited with your son Kelly and that you two are having a grand reunion drinking the finest ale out of a glass – not a bottle – because you’re too civilized.

A Celebration of Cy’s Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 2PM.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.
