Dale passed away peacefully on August 15, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan and lived in Lajord then settled in Richardson at the Store. He was the youngest of three children, sister Louis and brother Campbell, and his parents were Walter and Alix.  Dale began his career in the Royal Canadian Navy where he met his wife Joyce of 59 years. After 5 years in the Navy, Dale joined the Regina Police Department serving two years, before moving back to Victoria to join the Victoria City Police Department where he served for 31 years retiring as Sergeant.

Dale was a proud member of the Greater Victoria Police Chorus for 25 years and at one time was president. He also had a passion for Lacrosse and was a season ticket holder of the Victoria Shamrocks for over 30 years. Auto racing, curling, grandkids sports, and baking were also things Dale enjoyed.

Dale was predeceased by son Lou in 2009. Survived by his loving wife Joyce of 59 years and family members Tim (Kathy), Michelle; Grandchildren Mike (Mel), Mitchell, Ashley (Justin), Danielle (Dustin) and great-grandchildren Logan, Karbella, Mia, Emma and Alyson.  As well as many nieces and nephews.

Dale will always be remembered for his quick wit, humour, and one of a kind personality and will forever be in our hearts.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow.

I knew Dale all during his years with the Police Chorus. His quick wit and sense of humour made him a most popular MC at the concerts. Most of my best memories of my time with the Chorus involve Dale. I imagine that is also true for the other Chorus members as well. He will be missed.

Debbie and I were saddened to read of Dale’s passing.

I have so many memories of my time with Dale, both at work and during my time with the Choir, but I think there are two the best display his unique style.

I first started working with Dale in the Fraud Section and one day we had to go to Woodward’s Dept. Store. Shortly after we entered the store Dale very loudly says ‘Quit trying to hold my hand!’ In my shock I turn to see him doing his best to not laugh.

The second memory was while performing with the Choir. When I first joined I stood beside Dale in the Bass section and one day standing there in front of an audience I felt his hand squeezing my buttox.

Dale was full of life and was not scared to share it. Debbie and I will miss his wonderful spirit.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Joyce and family.

Dale, what can I say……..I’m going to miss you a whole lot! Many, many good times and memories for almost the last 50 years when you and Joyce welcomed this girl from “edmonchuck” into your lives. To think I spoke to you just a month ago and we were analyzing quality and quantity of life. Thanks for being that older “ brother” I never had to tease and have fun with. I so enjoyed my visits to Victoria to see you, Joyce, Lou. Michelle, Mike and Mitch. May you continue making your delicious cinnamon buns and bread in the ever after! Take care all of you. Much love from #2
