We are so sorry to hear of Darlaine’s passing, and we pass along our condolences to the Bagshaw and Holm’s families. What a lovely memorial! I felt Darlaine all the way through the service and this gave me comfort. We have been up north since 1971 until now and have missed out on most things. Dad (Robert Slater) kept us updated on the Bagshaw’s and Holm’s families. I know how fond he was of everyone. He was always very proud of our Shetland roots and of his cousins. Darlaine showed her background, strength, caring and was truly remarkable for what she endured. A true example of her faith.
    Our blessings,
Jim and Margaret Bushell (nee Slater)

A special friend….our memories go back to her piano and organ selections at our wedding 62 years ago…and thankful that she was able to share in our 60th anniversary last year. Her musical abilities will be truly missed at Shannon Oaks and I will miss our coffee times together as we looked back over many years of friendship

  • David & Elaine Holm

We miss you, Darlaine. You were always one of the defining pillars of our family, maintaining connections to our origins, values, and relationship network. You were given a hard life to live, but you kept your faith. May God bless you and be your eternal reward. Until then,

  • Doug & Phil Parsons

Darlaine was a very special lady. She shared her musical talent at our wedding over 50 years ago. She gave delight to many praising her Lord and Saviour with her musical abilities. Jesus planned a special home going for Darlaine as she fell asleep at Shannon Oaks and awoke in God’s glorious, eternal heaven. We will meet again around the Lord’s Throne of Grace.

Our sympathy to each of the family.

    Love, Doug & Phil Parsons

I was so lucky to have spent 10 years with Darlaine at Mt Edward Court. She volunteered many hours sharing her love of music with us. We kept in touch after she moved to Shannon Oaks. We never did get our outting last summer as Covid changed our plans.
A very special lady, talented, kind and always positive, even with all her health challenges. Love you and miss you dear friend, Sharon Petts Smith

  • Beverley Smith (nee Hill)

Darlaine and I became exceptional life-long friends beginning our early years at Oaklands Gospel Chapel when her late father, Arthur, was Sunday School Superintendent. We both played organ/piano. Our lovely friendship permitted us to connect and we travelled together on two ships to Hawaii in 1961 1962. Throughout the years, Darlaine remained a cherished Christian support and friend even until days before
    her passing when we spoke.
I am deeply saddened by her loss but know she is now resting in the Presence of the Lord.
My sincere sympathy to the family. Beverley Smith (nee Hill)
