David Sills, 88, of Victoria passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

David was born on March 26, 1934 to Doris and Frederic Sills in Toronto, Ontario. After graduating from high school early, he moved with the family to Oshawa where he spent a few years working for General Motors. It was a fortuitous move as this is where he met his future wife, Norma. They were married a few years later in 1957.

This was the start of a journey that would see them move across the west. David began his career with Deloitte as an articling student in Toronto. This was followed by moves to Burlington, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and finally Victoria in 1980.

It was a busy time with four kids but there was always the annual family road trip back east, California or the BC interior.

David retired in 1992 which allowed time for trips further afar. Favourite tours included Italy, Scandinavia, Russia and the UK to name a few. He also spent time adding to his vast collection of books, lead soldiers and writing books about his adventures.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma, children John, Diane (Colin), Edward (Deanna), Elizabeth (Steve) and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Many memories of times shared with Dave: browsing book stores; watching classic movies; lakeside R&R in the East Kootenays; summer hikes & camping with our families in Coastal BC. You will be missed, Dave. Our thoughts are with Norma and family.
