Early on the morning of May 4, 2017, with his son James by his side at Royal Jubilee Hospital, David John Harwood passed away peacefully at the age of 84. Our Father, the youngest of four, was a businessman, community volunteer, and family man whose passions included gardening and fishing. Raised in Cadboro Bay, Victoria, BC,  dad met and married the love of his life Margaret and in turn purchased the family home to raise their three children in the same area where he and his siblings were nurtured.

Predeceased by his Wife of 56 years Margaret, his brothers Gordon and Allan, and his sister Phyllis, he will be deeply missed by his three children Douglas, Gwyneth, and James as well as his grandchildren Shane, Melissa, Hunter, and Maddison, who all welcome you to join us on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm for a celebration of his life. The service will be held at St George’s Anglican Church, 3909 St. George’s Lane, Victoria, BC  followed by a reception and barbeque at 3905 Hobbs Street, Victoria, BC.

I want to give my condolences to the family. I was saddened once again of your loss. I knew your Dad quite well it was through meeting your Mom who held a very special place in my heart.
We met through her work when we adopted our son, we were instant friends and then we met Dave. What a wonderful couple they were, always speaking with such love for their family and grandchildren. We were so fortunate to have had some social times together.
Unforgettable ….They are now once again dancing together.

My condolences to the Harwood family. I only knew David a little, but enjoyed very much talking to him, especially about Cadboro Bay history. I also appreciated my visit to your home over a year ago to see some of your family photos, mostly taken in Cadboro Bay, I believe.

I did have coffee with David at Starbuck’s, but I now regret not doing it more often, of course.

    In Sympathy,
    Brian Moore
