David was the youngest of the McMorran brothers of Cordova Bay, predeceased by Bruce, Eric and Richard.
He was a man who found most joy in nature and the simple things of life. He loved the gathering, sawing and splitting of firewood and his woodpiles were studies in symmetry. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the West Coast exploring the many trails and secluded beaches, packing only what he could carry in his Trapper Nelson back pack.
He passed his love of the coast on to the children of his blended family and treks down the trail to Radar Beach have been taken in memory of times past.
David was an excellent father, loved by his children and his soul-mate, Irene, who learned to be skeptical of his memory of how far, how steep, or how dangerous the trail was. He “kept on truckin”
Culturally he was a man of eclectic tastes. Beethoven, The Stones, Choral music and Crosby Stills Nash & Young all gave him pleasure.
We loved him and we miss him and we honor his memory. His spirit was strong and will stay with all of us: Irene, Shane (Chris), Bruce, Anthony (Katie), Andrew, Wendy and his 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Many thanks to Dr. Woodley and the nurses and staff at Berwick Royal Oak, who took such good care of him.
A private family celebration of David’s life has taken place.

Helen Davidson Very sorry to discover this news of David’s passing. My family were neighbours of David and the boys when the boys were just young. In fact Shane and I began kindergarten together. Leith Murray I met David and the boys in the early ’60’s at Brockton Farm, Georgetown, ON.
When Lynn and I moved to Victoria in 2002, I always planned to come and have a chat, catch up on one another’s lives. With much regret, that never occurred.As a teen, he made me feel appreciated. He listened to me and I observed his wonderful parenting skills with the boys.
I knew David only for a short time but his gentle ways impressed me then as they do still today.

Sharing the love for David, also a wonderful Uncle. I loved and trusted him.
A few years back we were planning a camping trip one day but just didn’t materialize as life took its own direction. I now have a goal to visit Radar, which will be the first time, and it will be in Uncle David’s remembrance and the ongoing connection.

Dave was a much loved member of our volunteer group working on restoration in Mt Douglas Park, from 2014 to 2019. We were very sorry when he decided it was time to hang up his loppers in February 2019. We will remember Dave with fondness and gratitude for his hard work, friendship, and especially for his love of this park. A true environmentalist! We were fortunate to know Dave and to work alongside him.

I am very sorry to hear David has passed away, I have know him for over 20years and was part of his family.
He was very kind, warm, friendly to me, and accepted me as who I was.
The stain glass lamp hang in my kitchen that made by him years ago is still bright and colourful, I will always remember him as a person who was a man with bright heart and colourful life.
