Dennis William Coveney passed peacefully next to a loved one on June 22, 2025, in Victoria. Born in Faversham, Kent, England on March 23, 1931, to mother, Gertrude and father, Ernest Coveney. Dennis had four siblings (Ron, Joyce, Vera, and Myra). Intelligent and studious, Dennis trained at Rochester Technical School for Boys and Medway College of Technology (with two years of National Service in Singapore).
Dennis and family – with son, Robert – moved to Vancouver in 1964 where he worked as a mechanical engineer with large consulting firm, H.A. Simons Ltd. An avid cyclist and runner, Dennis was a member of the Faversham cycling club and several clubs in Vancouver—competing in road races and over a dozen marathons in Canada and the U.S. He was proud a member of the West Vancouver Legion for 50 years.
Dennis will be remembered by his niece and nephews (Sue Foulger and Peter and Michael Coveney in England) and many friends in Victoria. A reader of war history and classic stories, Dennis’ lifetime of reading is an ardent bookmark in the large library of life and literature. When not reading, Dennis delighted in classical and jazz music, witticisms and warm-hearted laughter.
Dennis will be deeply missed and wholeheartedly celebrated by long-time friend and “family” Jody Collins. Cheers, my dear Dennis!
