Donald passed away peacefully at The Heights at Mt. View on August 7, 2018 with his best friend, Susanne, by his side and surrounded by love.

Donald was born in Victoria, BC on May 12, 1941 and spent most of his life here.

He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Neil MacKay.  Donald is survived by siblings, Ruth Pollard (Geo), Judy Stefan (late Jake), David (Eli), Rob (Sherri) and Holly Lawless (Robert). Donald also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald, not surprisingly, was known as “Happy Donald” in the deaf community. He enjoyed spending time at IDHHC where he visited friends and played bingo.

Special thanks to Dr. MacKean, Susanne Harnden, Mary Warner, Pastor Gwen and the caring staff of McCauley Lodge, and the nursing team at The Heights at Mt. View.

Donations which are greatly appreciated may be sent to: Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre, 130-1555 McKenzie Ave., Victoria, BC  V8N 1A4.

Dear Ruth and Judy, We are so blessed to have met you and most of your family. We were saddened to hear about Donald even though we had only heard about him all thru the years. He seems like he was a very well loved and happy man–I am sorry we didn’t get to meet him. With our love and prayers, your friends, Phil and Jean
