We regret to announce the passing of our mother Doreen Edwina Jessie Forsyth at the age of 88, on October 1, 2024, in Victoria, BC, after a long fight against Alzheimer dementia disease.
Mom was the foundation of our family. We never worried about failure because she was always there to have your back. Mom was the most independent, strong and brave woman, surviving ovarian and breast cancer. She was always there to generously help and support family, friends and strangers. Mom loved fashion, gardening, cooking and dancing; a passion shared with Love Johnny.
Mom was an agent for Greyhound in Smithers, BC, with predeceased business partner Joan Franson for 25 years.
Doreen leaves behind daughter Debra Lynn Coates (husband Dan Coates); granddaughters Daniel, Diane, Ashley and Patricia; eight great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild. Son Brit Allan Forsyth (wife Catherina Forsyth); grandchildren Stephen, Brittani, Brandon, Tristan and Justin.
Our mom was fortunate in life to have two special predeceased loves; our dad William (Bill) Forsyth and chosen family with Johnny Milan, along with sons Dan Milan, Don Milan and daughter Janelle Reilly. Siblings Jean Braden, Gail Scott and Lorna Scott.
May you rest in peace, you will be greatly missed by all. Doreen will be laid to rest in a family plot in Briar Ridge cemetery in Peace River, BC. A heartfelt thank you to all staff for care received at the Gorge Road Hospital and Broadmead Veterans Memorial Lodge in Victoria, BC.

Maria and family Will be mourned by all of us.
I worked with Doreen for years at Greyhound. She left a special imprint in my heart. She was a very special lady. I have missed seeing her around Smithers! I loved having a chat when we crossed paths downtown.
Condolences to her family and friends.
