To Eddie’s family I just want to express my sincere condolences on Ed’s passing. My association with Ed as my coach with the Brandon Wheat Kings will always be one of the highlights of my hockey career. He was a master of hockey and there is nothing in the game that is played today that Ed hadn’t taught us back in the 60’s. They just give these concepts new names. Most of all he made the game fun and all of us who had the priveldge of playing for him still speak of him with true veneration. He was an incredible, complex man with a great sense of humour, a truly lovable character. To this day when I see a “bowtie” it brings a smile to my face and I think of Coach Dorohoy and how lucky I was to have known him and played for him. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Dear Barb (Barbie as I remember),
I am so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. 🙁
I remember when you & your family moved into our neighborhood on the southhill, in Spokane, Washington, back in the middle 60’s.
You became my friend immediately & your family got me involved in the Spokane Figure Skating Club.
I remember your mom/dad took us to the coliseum and we got to watch your dad coach the “Jets” hockey team and warm up on the ice, before our figure skating class started .
I remember thinking how OLD those guys on the ice seemed…Hee Hee! Now that I’m OLD….it’s amazing how YOUNG the hockey players really are. 😀
I remember my parents inviting the whole JETS Team over to our house one evening (while I was upstairs in bed). Pretty noise. Hee!
I remember yourbeautiful mom and your cute little sister Lynn, too.
I remember how I thought your Canadian accent was so cool.
I have wonderful fond memories of the whole Dorohoy family during the short time you lived in the US.
Thanks for those memories and hold on to the wonderful memories you have of your dad…he was a Legion in so many eyes.
    With Sympathy~

Sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad Brad.
I have clear memories of you, me and your Mom and Dad sitting around the kitchen table at your home in Gordon Head. It was clear to me back then after hearing tales of your fathers sports stories that you inherited your athletic abilities from him. He was quite a character!
All the best to you during this difficult time.
    With fond memories,
    Michael Bennett

I was saddened to hear of Eddie’s passing. When we were kids our two families shared a great deal together. Although Eddie was a bit younger, I followed his acheivements, including his fling with the Montreal Canadians. THe Dorohoy family was well appreciated by the citizens of Medicine Hat, wit me being on who appreciated the whole family.

We were very sorry to hear about Ed’s passing. I was fortunate to have played for Ed’s Brandon Wheat Kings 65-67. What a time! Ed was considered by all of the players on those teams as the best coach we ever had and lot of us went on to play professionally, minor and major leagues. All would credit Ed for his teaching of skating, hockey skills and love of hard work. Even today when we are together and talking hockey it nevers fails that we embelish stories from those days and always talk about Eddie! The legend of “Bowtie” will carry on as long as we do for sure!
Our sincerest condolances to family, the man will be missed by all who new him. Dan McPherson

I was sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. What a good guy he was! I’ve known him for so long, that I can’t remember for sure how we met.
It may have been through my cousin who was a cabbie. Whenever we bumped into each other, we would talk hockey and have a coffee. Ed always made time for me, and I’m sure for his other friends as well.
This is one messed up world when we lose people like him!
    Take care….
