It is with a sad and heavy heart that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Kis-Toth on October 20, 2022. Elizabeth is survived by her sons Frank   (Cari) and Peter (Sarah), her grandchildren Natasha, Mitchell and Max, her brother Antal in Germany, niece Elena and nephew Antal and their families and her circle of friends in the Hungarian community in Victoria.

Elizabeth grew up in Budapest, Hungary, immigrating to Canada in 1957. She lived in several parts of British Columbia, and in 1970 married the love of her life, John Kis-Toth. John was a Forestry Engineer and together they shared many adventures living in small communities on Vancouver Island. Elizabeth’s cooking and baking skills were legendary. She and John loved to play cards, reading, attend the opera and symphony in Vancouver, and watching their sons grow.

Elizabeth volunteered and participated in countless activities and celebrations at the Hungarian Societies of Victoria and Nanaimo. She enjoyed travelling to sunny locations taking her sons to Mexico, California and Hawaii, and continuing to travel with friends after the boys grew older. She loved the arts, Saturday Afternoon at the Opera on CBC radio, singing in the local choir and a good game of cards.

Prayers will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 7:00pm, with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 849 Old Esquimalt Road, Victoria,  BC on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 2:00pm.

In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Diabetes Canada in Elizabeth’s honour.

We are immensely grateful to the doctors, nursing staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital emergency department, and in particular the staff of 4 North for the extraordinary care and compassion they gave to Elizabeth.
