Eric and June Tomlinson married in October 2000, blending their families into one. Eric embraced June’s stepchildren, Wendy, Tim Payne, and Susan, with love. Over time, they welcomed grandchildren Sydney Payne, Logan Payne, Holly, Waylon, and Ryder, who brought joy and fulfillment to their lives. Eric and June played a significant role in shaping their grandchildren’s lives.
Eric was born to George William Tomlinson and Claire Morrison Laybourne on November 4, 1944, at Victoria General Hospital. He grew up in Oak Bay, Victoria, and attended St. Michaels University School from grades 1 to 12. Eric continued his education at the University of British Columbia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in June 1967. He later enrolled in law school, specializing in Family Law, Wills, and Real Estate, and practiced law until his retirement. In retirement, Eric created a documentary on BC courthouses, which he presented at a law event in Victoria.
Eric had many hobbies, including sailing, power boating, and being a member of the Oak Bay Yacht Club and Power Squadron. He enjoyed teaching Power Squadron, attending European car shows, participating in scotch and breakfast clubs, reading, watching British TV shows, and creating projects from discarded household items. Eric cherished spending time with family and friends, maintaining close relationships with childhood friends through weekly breakfasts and shared memories. He valued his ancestry and held his parents’ lives close to his heart. Family was very important to Eric, and he prioritized spending time with his stepchildren and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Food and beverages will be provided.
