Florence died on the night of Monday, December 5, 2022. There was no fanfare, no fireworks. We heard no choir of angels, nor trumpets blare… and yet, a life so deeply significant and important to us, ended quietly, in the presence of family in a room filled with love.

Florence was born in Calgary on December 24, 1931. Before long, the family left Alberta to seek a better life in Victoria. Living in VicWest, she attended St. Ann’s Academy, but left after grade 11 to work as a cashier at Safeway. In 1958, she caught the eye of a handsome man at a Christmas party. Charlie and Flo were married less than six months later, bought a home in Lakehill, and in time, welcomed their children – Stephanie, James, and Robert. They lived in the same neighbourhood until well after Charlie’s retirement, when they moved to View Royal. By this time, their family had expanded to include their first grandchild, who was followed by an addition every year until there were six. Malcolm, Bryce, Luc, Sacha, Lilly, and Dylan were the very world to Charlie and Flo.

Flo’s memory will be celebrated by all those left behind including her children, grandchildren, sister Joan, brother-in-law Allan, and sister-in-law Audrey, and many much-loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several people she loved and who loved her – husband Charlie; sisters Marie and Kathaleen; brothers Joe and Eddie; brothers-in-law Larry, Harry, and Duncan; sisters-in-law Juanita, June and Merilyn; nephews Ian, Doug, and niece Maureen.

All are welcome to join Florence’s family in a celebration of life in the Sequoia Centre at McCall’s Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Veterans Memorial Lodge at Broadmead  https://www.broadmeadcare.com/ in Florence’s name.
