It is with extreme sorrow that we announce the passing of my husband and our father, Gurdial Ram, on May 25, 2020.

Gurdial was predeceased by his parents, Sadhu Ram and Channon Kaur. He is survived by his wife, Gurmit Kaur, his children, Babita, Harmesh (Harminder Kaur), and Aman, his three grandchildren Sanjay, Krishin, and Mya, as well as a large extended family including several siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Gurdial was born on November 30, 1950 in Ladhran, Punjab. He moved to Singapore in 1952 and travelled to Bilston Midland, England in 1960 with his father and brothers.  He married Gurmit in 1970. In 1974, he moved to Victoria, British Columbia with his wife and children.

Gurdial was a member of Boiler Maker Union and was respected for his exemplary work ethic. He worked tirelessly for many years with Victoria Machinery, as well as Yarrows Shipyard and Victoria Shipyard.  Unfortunately, due to the nature of this work, his career was cut short after being diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2013.

Gurdial was known for his generosity and hosted several relatives as they immigrated to Canada. He was well known for his impressive sense of style and his caring nature.

He has left a large void in the lives of his family and friends and we will cherish him in our hearts forever. We would like to thank our many relatives and family friends for their kind support during this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to British Columbia Lung Association.  Private funeral due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
