ENNIS Harold Edward, known to his family and friends as ‘Hal’. Born October 16, 1922, on the family farm, Sec. 5, Twp. 40, R 25, W3M, near the town of Senlac, Saskatchewan, the eldest and only son of the late Thomas Leslie Ennis and Lula Myrle Ennis (nee Barnes). Hal passed away June 21, 2002, in Victoria, B.C., in his 80th year, surrounded by his loving family. Hal is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Bernice; daughter Sherrie (Dave) Haines; son Robert (Sue) Ennis; fivegrandchildren, Peter Halme, Anita Halme, Timothy Ennis, Robyn (Damien) Rowe and Brian Haines, and two great-grand-children, Zoe Ennis and Kai Ennis; three sisters, Evelyn (Joe) Arsenault, Sidney, B.C., Helen (Tom) Flynn, Victoria, B.C., and Ethel Johnson, North Saanich, B.C., along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Hal served overseas during the Second World War with the South Albertas Regiment, 4th Armoured Division. He was one of the Victoria’s earliest oil burnertechnicians, retiring in 1986, and will be fondly remembered by his many customers of Hal Ennis Oil Burner Service. During his retirement he developed a passion for fine woodworking and was a member of the Victoria Woodworkers Guild. His pridein his family was only exceeded by their pride in him. He will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses of both the Royal Jubilee Hospital and the Victoria General hospital for their excellent care and compassion. A special thank-you is extended to family, friends and neighbours who have had Hal in their thoughts and prayers. Funeral services will be conducted by McCall Bros., 1400 Vancouver Street, Victoria, B.C.. Viewing Tuesday, June 25, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service Wednesday, June 26, at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #1 947 Fort Street, Victoria, B.C.
