Helen passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Victoria, BC, surrounded by the love of family.

Helen was a private, loving mother, but was quick to reach out with great kindness and fast became admired by those she met.

She was known to those close to her as Babcia and in turn called most people sweetie, especially those who stopped to admire her garden, whether people from around the neighbourhood or her beloved animal guests!

A private Celebration of Life will be held May 12th in Victoria, BC.

In lieu of flowers, take the time to enjoy a cup of tea!

Bóg zapłaci!

Thinking of her family, so sorry for your loss. May the never ending memories, warm your heart, and smiles fall upon your face.
I met Helen many, years ago, before George & Val were married. She was a very gracious woman, wanting to feed you when you walked into her home, it could have even been just a simple pickle, she wouldn’t take “No thank you” for an answer, it was just her way. I have a certain memory of Helen, that has never left me, I had hosted a Wedding Shower for Val, Helen arrived early, and offered to show me how to make my plant leaves shine; She asked for some mayonnaise and a soft cloth, she then proceeded to show me, just how, to achieve this. I’ve never forgotten this, it was decade’s ago. She was proud of all her family.

Babcia was the sweetest person I ever knew. Whenever I came over to visit, she always tried to get me some food. She will be forever missed. She always had chocolate, cookies, drinks, and other good food on her table. Her little home in Victoria will live on with great care and loving family members.

My deepest condolences to the entire Urbaniak Family, especially my long time friend, Teresa ( Jadzia) Babcia was a kind, gentle, loving soul, with a quick smile and gentle touch. She had a way of making you feel very welcome, like a part of her extended Family. There was always something refreshing to drink and something delicious to eat. I remember her love of Family, her gardens and all the many animal guests she encountered : including Spiders and Birds. She had the most beautiful, glowing skin; a beauty from the inside, that radiated outward. Rest Peacefully with Chester now, Precious Babcia. Your Spirit lives on in your Children and Grandchildren.

Phrases like “one of a kind” were made for people like Helen. With a strong emphasis on “kind”, for that she was… Incredibly so.

I know that everyone will miss her strength as well, as amongst the ups and downs of life she exuded those two qualities consistently, and lovingly. The best intentions were always hers, and appreciated.

Heartfelt condolences to Teresa, especially, and the entire and extended Urbaniak family. Miss her, but hold her in your hearts.

Dear Teresa and family. I am so sorry for your loss, I hope thoughts of Babcia being at peace with your Dad offers you some comfort❤️
I loved hearing the many stories, all demonstrating your Mom’s love for family and friends. Whether it was chatting with random people at the local Thrifty Foods or greeting everyone as a long lost friend, it was clear, Babcia’s mission in life was love. And love, she did. Xoxo
